Question SN95 Cobra vs New Edge GT

Would anyone buy a 99-04 GT over a 96-98 Cobra? If yes, why?

I wouldn't buy either. SN95s are ugly and 2Vs are turds.

SN95 Cobra vs New Edge GT

No because 4v>2v in every way and I personally love the looks of a SN95 over a new edge.

I might be biased but I'd love a sn95 cobra. They rev higher and make more power then a 2v. Plus I love the body style of a sn95.

the new edge is one of the best looking mustangs of all time, but i'd still take an SN95 cobra over a new edge GT. power + rarity ftw

Definitely 4V over 2V. I think the new edge is one of the best looking Mustangs, but a clean Sn95 Cobra would be awesome.

---------- Post added at 12:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:12 AM ----------

I actually almost bought a 96 Cobra before my Mach 1. 4V for 4V I'd take a new edge though any day...

This guy offered to trade me his older cobra for my 04 gt years ago. I considered it but after further looking at his car, I hated the 2 trays it had for a cd and cassette player. That's what stopped me lol.

After owning both a 2 and 4v, I would go with the cobra. Besides you can make a sn95 look pretty damn good
. I think the new edge still looks better but the 4v would sell me. Besides who doesn't lI've the sound of 7k rpms of v8 power

I couldn't deal with the SN95 interior (minor differences, but differences nonetheless). Buy new edge and coyote swap - its pretty much the answer to all of life's problems: buy new edge, coyote swap.

...What small differences in the Sn95 interior from the New Edge interior would bug you enough for that to influence your decision? Only major difference I can think of is the center console, which is a shit ton easier and cheaper to swap than a coyote.

Sn95 cobra all the way. C head swap and a tune and I'd be pretty happy.

The older sn95 interiors just give me a gay vibe. The thick leather seats, manual odometer, yellow needles, etc.

When added up, the new edge interior looks much better, even as shitty as it is.

Ive never noticed that much of a difference. And I hate digital odometers.

The seats in both interiors are pretty awful, to be honest.

v - the below is precisely it. Plus, the chances of coming across that gawdy tan color is substantially more likely in an SN95.

It would depend on what was done to both in reality but if both stock or equally modded then 4v over 2v. Wouldn't mind a clean sn95 but I'd have to build it to my liking where the new edge I think already looks good stock.

Mods: Desencharger CAI, hurst shifter, O/R h pipe, Mac boom tube exhaust, and some FR500's.

Go with whatever you think looks better. I think New Edges look better in general, but then again, it is a Cobra vs. a GT we're talking about here. Toss up in my opinion.

Also, the difference in performance is actually quite small between the two. Yes, the Cobra makes more peak power, and yes it can rev to 7000 rpm, but the 2-valve PI has a broader powerband that makes significantly more torque lower in the rpm range. Stock for stock, it's pretty much a driver's race with a tiny, tiny edge to the Cobra. And comparing modded setups, the Cobra doesn't really start to set itself apart until you get well on up in the power levels, like 500+, when the 2-valve heads start to choke up a bit.

Surprising, there's probably more aftermarket for the 2-valves than there is for B-headed 4-valves.

Depending on how much more money you're looking to spend, I still think a 03/04 Mach 1 is one of the best bargains out there right now. I see them for under $10k all the time in pretty good condition. They're significantly faster than a B-head Cobra or 2-valve and respond well to mods, there's plenty of aftermarket, and I personally think that they're easily the best looking SN95s ever made.

The cobra I'm looking at is a laser red 96 with tan interior, lowered, side scoops, and exhaust. My coworker's husband is gonna sell it around June. They said the odometer stopped working so they don't know how many miles are on it. Will need a paint job. They said I get first dibs on it, but they haven't talked about a price yet and probably won't until they're ready to buy a replacement.

Plans would be a street/strip car.

I don't like tan interior, but I would do a rear seat delete and could always trade for something darker. Red isn't my favorite color on cars, but I've seen some that I really like. Would either go with repainting it red or paint it white or black.

I like sn95s and they can be made to look bad ass, but I personally like the new edge body style better. More hp is nice though.

I've seen a few 99/01 Cobras and Mach 1s around $10K, but that's more than I want to spend just for a car that will be a project.

If I kept it red I would paint it like this:

White:

And then there's this:
