Well I bought the dirtbike. It's in good shape, but he hadn't been riding it much, so I think the carb needs gone through. I think I'm just going to put a R&D PowerBowl on it. It's got a terrible bog at low speeds and heavy throttle.

my cousin has a Suzuki 250 dirtbike he let me use and man those things are fucking awesome. the throttle response was violent..quite violent indeed. for being a 250 like damn wtf does a 750 or 1000 cc feel like. sheer joy though.

250 2 stroke or 4 stroke?

250 2 strokes can be wicked. My last motocross bike was an old Robbie Reynard race bike and it was insanely fast. This 250 4 stroke is okay. It's powerful, but definelty not like my old bikes. I've never owned a 4 stroke before and it's already pissing me off. Much harder to start and really cold natured, but since my kids both have something to ride, i wanted something to chase them around with so we can go ride trails. I went and rode a TTR230, but it was heavy, really underpowered, and the suspension didn't work well for my fatass, so I bought a MX bike instead.

Did it sound like a overgrown chainsaw, or a hopped up lawn mower?

LOL, this Mummy trailer is missing some of the audio and it makes it ridiculous:

A young man was following Him, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body; and they seized him. But he pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked. (Mark 14:51-52)

my drz400sm is a 4 stroke and it's slow as hell. fastest i've had it is 91 and it was screaming at that point. still more fun than my gsxr 750 in every way except speed. hard to go back to sport bikes after taint tapping a supermoto

I don't have any interest in riding on the street. I honestly swore I'd never get back on a dirtbike, but it's something I want to do with my kids, so I'm going to give it a try and attempt to have some self control. I started racing when I was about 8, and raced competitively until I was 22. I had decided I was going to be a pilot and had already acquired a few ratings when I crashed out. Carla and I were married and she didn't go to the race with me that night.

I had been pacing a guy, and we were running 3rd or 4th. I knew I was faster than him, but hadn't had a good opportunity to pass him. There's a wide sweeping turn that opened into a tabletop, then another wide turn into another tabletop. The second jump had built a burm on the left side of it and it was in bad shape, causing it to kick the back of the bike up when you hit it.

He swung wide going to the first tabletop and I made my move. We went into the second tabletop and I had half a bike on him. The problem was I hit it in the top of 3rd, and too far left, causing it to kick up the back tire. I wayyyyyy over jumped it and landed 20' out in the flats, from 30' high, in the top of 3rd, and landed vertical on the front tire.

My brother said he thought I was dead, and I was unconscious for a full 5 minutes. I ended up with a couple of brain bleeds, and and bad concussion. The FAA likes to reject medicals for head injuries, so I never raced again. It wasn't worth a career. I don't have a lot of self control when it comes to these, so I'm 110% all the time, and that's why I haven't been back on one. I'm thinking riding with my kids will slow me down. This is an experiment.

that's the perfect position to be in to nudge his front tire with your rear tire to take him out. haven't you played excitebike?

I probably won't own another 4 stroke. I traded my YZ 250 for a RM-Z 450 and it was fast, but a smoother torquier kind of fast. The YZ was just downright violent. So much fun. Not to mention the RM-Z had a little bog right off idle that made it a chore to ride going slow. Getting rid of that YZ was the worst thing I ever did.

Seriously considering going to finance a 2017 YZ 250X. They're the same as the motocross bike, but with a wide ratio transmission, a low end pipe combo, and an 18" rear wheel.

I love 2 strokes, and they start no matter what. Hot, cold, turned upside down, completely submerged, it doesn't matter. One kick, and you're in business, and as you said the power is so much fun. Coming up on a large log? No worries.... blip the throttle and the front tire is in the air. No valves to worry about or anything. Throw a piston in on occasion, which takes all of 40 minutes, and go thrash.

I actually looked at a 250X, but I seriously don't need that much bike. This YZ250F isn't all that fast, but it's light and has good suspension for my 6'2" 220lb ass. It does have that same bog you're talking about, but after riding another bike that had the same issue that was resolved with a R&D PowerBowl, I'm hoping I can make it better. I plan to put a Moose skid plate on it, with a 18" rear wheel, go 3 more teeth on the rear sprocket, add the heavier flywheel, and bark busters, and go to the trails with the kids. I got it cheap enough that if it's always a bitch to keep running, I'll sell it and get a 2 stroke.

I actually prefer the way 4 strokes make power over 2 strokes, but I think that's because I always had 4 strokes growing up. The last time I went riding, it was with my cousin and uncle. They are both pretty good and we were hill climbing, something I have had trouble with since I was young. I was on my cousins 250 race bike and I had a hell of a time keeping my fat ass balanced up these hills and keeping the bike up on the pipe. It seemed like every time I would either spin and then bog and fall, or get under the pipe, bog and then fall.

I'm actually really bad at motorcycles.

Dear Bubba,

Last night I had a dream that I sent you a picture of one of my boogers. Your suggestion was to eat it.

I didn't.

Love,
