But whatever, I always assume most people are dumber than me and don't understand how to maintain shit or communicate properly with people when they need service/maintenance done, so it's not super concerning. I sure as shit wouldn't spend $50k+ because I'd be fucking pissed dropping that kind of money only to see shit fall off the walls on my first trip out.

I talked them into doing $20,000 even after taxes and fees but before registration and accessories.

HOWEVER

Wife pulled a 180 on me tonight. She wants the one we originally were looking at seen below:

I'm fine with this as it's got most of the features that matter (such as not being inside of a tent), just doesn't have as many fancy items inside, which in some sense can be a positive thing. Also it obviously looks cooler, plus it weighs like 500lbs less which is good for the 4Runner.

Only problem is that I used all of my negotiation capital on the first one and this one starts $2000 higher sales price. Gonna see if I can get them to agree to $20,000 including fees, and then I'll deal with taxes, registration, and accessories on top of that. So probably like $23000 out the door (fucking Washington sales tax).

Anyway, here's my 4Runner with new headlights WADUP!

My family has always had trailers, but I live too far away to use theirs now, and they have a 5th wheel that I can't pull. Our plan was to buy one when the Mustang sells, but in light of some other things on the horizon, I don't think we are going to now. Given the kids and all, I was looking at a 32' Open Range bunkhouse. Someday....

Well at least you have a boat in the interim! Wish I could do both.

Trailer dealer salesman said I can have the same deal on the other trailer but just at the sale price discrepancy between the two. So basically what I was hoping for (first one was $17,995, second one was $19,995, so after taxes basically $21,995 - not great but not terrible)

I can't remember if I told you guys, I'm pretty sure I did, but little back story, we are buying a house near DIA and I have to sell my condo to get ready for it.

On Friday of last week, my realtor calls me and said the sales guy (for the house build, they work together) said Taylor Morrison was starting to get on him about my place not being listed.

So I proceeded to not really do anything about it on Friday or Saturday, other then setting up a time for them to come take pictures. I've been working on this place for like 6 hours a day straight for the last 4 days and the pictures are finally done.

It goes live on the market on Friday, I'm hoping it sells quick. I had to take the cat over to dads house and lock her in the basement and she fucking haaattteeeeddd it. She is such a little bitch.

Now this place is cleaner than it's ever been before, and the fun has just begun. I need to move almost all my shit over to my dads house. The realtor say the day they list it we will probably have 4-5 showings. So I guess I might be taking Friday off because I work from home.

I also can't find anything now because I don't know where I put it. There is literally nothing out in the kitchen. Completely bare.

And that’s another thing we are trying to sort out. Luckily we have enough lakes nearby that it’s not too big of a deal to make 2 trips to get a trailer and boat out there, but it still sucks. My wife wanted a 4 Runner and we’ve been setting money back for a down payment because we will be keeping her car for my daughter and I want a healthy down payment because I don’t like monthly bills. In the 18 years we’ve been married, we’ve never once had 2 vehicle payments.

Well, a 4 Runner can’t pull my boat or the size of trailers we want, in order to be comfortable with a family of 4 and possibly kids friends, so the new plan is to get a low mileage GX460. Although still not ideal to pull the boat, it’s within its limitations......barely, so the short runs to the lake should be okay. You can get a loaded out GX460 lease return for less than a new 4 Runner, and then my wife can drag the boat and I can take the trailer.

It also solves another thing we’ve dealt with since I’ve had this Ram. For just a day trip out in the boat, if the kids each bring a friend, we have to take 2 vehicles. With a GX460 with a third row seat, we can do it in one vehicle.

I want to love the GX460's, but fuck, Lexus needs to bring those interiors out of the late 90's. You can't get a modern looking interior without going into the "F sport" trim levels. Nobody wants fucking walnut veneer in their car anymore unless they're 93 years old.

I bet it rides much better than the 4Runner though with that extra weight, fancy suspension, and V8 though. Unfortunately you lose the roll-down rear window which is like the most kick-ass part of having a 4Runner.

To be fair, the 4 Runner has a very boring interior. Toyota really needs to update it, and it’s time for some engine/trans upgrades too. While the current power train is super reliable, it’s also super vanilla and hasn't been updated in years. In my case, it’s function over form. The GX460 better suits what we will use it for. A 4Runner just can’t pull my boat or the trailer I’d buy.

Oh believe me, I hate Toyota and their "zero risk" approach to design. Same shit for literally 10 years? Good god, grow some balls Toyota! Finally on year 10 they're throwing in an updated entertainment system and push button start and color gauge cluster center screen. WOOOOW!

And then yeah, a fifteen year old, literally unchanged drivetrain? Good god man at least put a fucking six speed in there somewhere along the line.

If the Bronco exceeds expectations, it's going to be hard as fuck for me to not move over to Ford. But if Toyota unveils a new 4Runner within a year or so of the Bronco, it's gonna be a tough decision.

However, I really have never loved a vehicle more than the 4Runner. Can't quite place my finger on why, but I fucking love that thing. Maybe it's because I can get in it and drive around the planet fifteen times and not once will the thought "I wonder if something is going to break" pop into my head. No other vehicle I've owned has given me that peace of mind.

Plus I can trade it in for basically the amount I bought it for at nearly any time in its life. That's always nice to know.

I totally get it, and with the sale numbers of the 4Runner, and the resale being so high, itís obviously working for them. Thatís what we would buy if it wasnít for the tow ratings. The real world fuel mileage on the GX460 sucks too, and the resale isnít near as good as 4Runner. Looking at a < 20K mileage 4Runner makes no sense to me, when they arenít that much less than new. I wonít pay for a new GX460, but a <20K mike used one deprecates quite a bit, so thatís my target.

Yeah when we first looked at them in Houston, I was looking at used ones. Then I was like "well shit, for $1000 more than this two year old, 40,000 miles one, I can get a brand new, zero mileage one."

It kind of helps and hurts. Good for trade-in. Not so good for private sale as I expect most people to have the same epiphany as I did.

Also, Lexus will probably never actually do it, but it would be cool if they really released this. However, you could do it on your own for way less money as well

TV Santa is my new favorite holiday mascot. Apparently he's done this once before.

Don't they give you a free Yeti cooler filled with all kinds of crap if you buy an Airstream? That kind of stuff is pocket change when you're talking Airstream money.

And it's weird that people that are rich enough to afford one buy one. I would have thought if you have that kind of money to throw around you're the type to use "summer" as a verb.

Ex: "We're going to summer in Cape Cod this year. Too much riff raff moved into the Hamptons lately. It's getting a little colorful around there for our tastes. You know last year someone actually took our mail while we were gone. I felt so violated. It just isn't safe there anymore."

^^^ Lets dress you up like a bum in a $50k trailer. So hot right now.

Airstreams are so over priced and so fucking heavy. You can get a nice ass fiberglass 5th wheel with a fucking office in it for as much as a small airstream.

They weigh the same too.
