1994 BMW 328i with pushrod 5.0 - Drift Build

Kinda got tired of being held down by the new edge when it comes to drifting, so decided to get a more proven drift chassis.

1994 328i

This is the picture from the ad

$1000 - BBS 2 piece wheels, corbeau seats, completely redone interior, new top, and just painted pearl white, as long with a ton of extra parts. And a blown headgasket.

Towing it home

After a nice wash:

I pulled the cylinder head, previous owner has started this already, and posted all the drivetrain parts I dont need for sale.

Next step is to finish pulling the drivetrain stuff, cleaning and painting the engine bay, and prep everything for the 5.0.

And I need to purchase the 5.0 drivetrain. I need the complete motor, t5, wiring harness, ECU, headers, and some other misc stuff. Going to be purchasing these parts slowly.

IdK, I cant see my self selling it honestly. My brother is about to turn 16, and I would rather give it to him and keep it in the family than sell it. But most likely I will just keep the mustang as a DD, and only drive the e36 on weekends when the weather is nice, and on drift events.

looks nice max. sounds like a monster being built. had a friend that found one with a v8 in it. he wanted me to looking into getting some aftermarket parts but I couldn't find any. it had the bmw logo on the motor so I figured it was stock but I couldn't find anything on e36 having v8 versions.

Some of you who followed my last build thread know I built the mustang on my moms driveway, and had lots of issues with the neighbors. I live in an apartment complex where my unit is almost a block away from where I park my car, so I was dreading having to swap motors like that, out in the open.

My gracious gf has a 2 car garage filled with crap, Christmas decorations, old junk, etc. She said that if I organized it for her, I could use the space to work on my car!

So this weekend I'm going to clean up the garage, and try to tow the car to her place so I car start prepping the engine bay for the new motor!

Let me know if you end up needing any little parts that are easy to ship. I've parted out 4 94/95 GTs in the last year and have a ton of stuff laying around.

2005 Tahoe LT - DD

Im going to go look at a 5.0 today, wish me luck.

Guy is selling his notch, but had an extra engine, transmission, wire harness, ECU and driveshaft for sale, so I asked me if he would sell me just those parts, and he said yea, for $400 :0

Yeah, I saw that guy, I was thinking of buying his car just for the turbo kit, but I think I want to buy the turbo kit new.

Anyways, I think I got the deal of a lifetime:

-5.0 HO completely dressed up, with everything still connected.
-t5
-bell housing
-stock clutch, flywheel
-engine harness
-engine to ECU harness
-ECU
-Exhaust manifolds, dumps
-o2 sensors
-driveshaft

for $400. Engine spins freely, and did not have any oil sludge.

I had a budget of $1400 for all this, so now I have an extra $1k to do some maintenance.

Im going to rebuild the T5, he said 1st gear popped out every once in a while.
Im getting a new clutch and flywheel
Changing the head-gaskets and head bolts for better ones, changing all the gaskets and seals on the engine, and valve springs for upgraded ones.

On the engine stand

And the truck I rented to pick up the engine. LeSex

I did some more progress on the motor. The 5.0 was/still is dirty as hell.

I spent a couple hours on saturday cleaning it, and it still is very dirty. I dont have a pressure washer which sucks, ive been cleaning it by hand.

Need to take the heads to get machined, and buy all the new gaskets.

The plan is to:

- Clean the engine thoroughly, paint the block and heads black and the valve covers and intake silver
- Change all the engine gaskets and seals.
- Clean all the coolant passages on the engine (any tips on this?)
- Install the new clutch and flywheel

Once this is finished Ill start the hydro clutch conversion, and the removal of the bmw drivetrain.

Once I get the engine on the car and running, Ill purchase the on3 single turbo kit

Got some work done on the 302 this weekend

Installed ARP head bolts and Felpro 9333 head gaskets
resurfaced the flywheel
Stage 3 clutch
Painted everything, valve covers, water pump, block...
Custom BMW logo
Almost there

Done!

Crappy pics, Ill take some better ones this weekend. I changed every gasket on the engine, did the chrome oil dip stick, ford racing coil wires, new sparkplugs, cleaned the fuel injectors, new oil pump, and MSD distributor.

Next is to get the bmw to the garage and yank out the old drivetrain.

The BMW logo on the intake is sharp.
How are you mounting it in the engine bay? Solid mounts?

I have e30 (shorter mounts) solid mounts, but the engine is sitting on the steering shaft, so im going to put back the rubber e36 taller mounts to clear the shaft.
