Back with another Mustang!!

Just couldnt stay away from the mustang scene apparently. About a year and a half ago i purchased a 2v swapped calypso green notch back that a member on here had at one point. Started re-doing alot of stuff on it to get it more reliable and cleaned up. Then went threw a pretty low time in my life. Found my wife sleeping with another guy (second time, first time was 3 years prior to that). So i decided to sell the Turtle off to pay for my lawyer. I was living in my jeep, not able to see my kids. It was rough time in my life, so i sold the notch to get my lawyer.

After getting a lawyer my life changed around for the better. I got my house back, got my kids full time, got everything... except the ex wife! Seemed like a win win situation for me! lol

After the divorce was final i decided to liquidate some of my junk and invest it all in my jeep. Ended up creating this beast.

Got kind of bored here 6 months ago and bought an old Datzun 280Z and dropped a 5.3 into it. Half way threw building it a guy shot me an offer to buy it and i decided to let it go.

Now a buddy of mine asked if i wanted his old project. So i scooped this up this weekend.

Its a 99 GT 5 speed car. Has no engine, trans, wheels, tires, seats, rear end is missing all the internals, ect. She's a basket case, but i've also only got 75 dollars in the car as is. So i couldnt really pass it up.

What are the plans for the stang?

Lol, it pretty much is deja vu, only this time im single, have money, and have time to build! hahaha

Plans are tubular front suspension (looking at Team Z right now)
Power plant wise, i'm torn. More then likely i'll stick with a 2v, but i'm thinking about doing the 5.0 stroker like i did with my 01.
Sticking with the 5 speed, will do the 3650 in it.
Going with a set of 17" 10th anni rims (because they're extremely similar to my jeeps procomp 7031 alloys)
Going to run a shaved back bumper with out cutouts, and run a dumped exhaust
thinking about going with the 03/04 cobra front bumper just because thats what i had on my 01.

As for power adders, im not sure yet. Going to get the supsension under the car, get it rolling, then start concentrating on power plants ect.

Right? i've put myself in some odd situations over the last 5 years. But, thankfully i've come out on top every time, and really have no regrets from anything i've done or been threw. I've learned alot over the years, about myself as well as about others. Plus this whole situation has brought me and my two boys alot closer, and im able to be the father i wasn't necessarily always being for them .

Damn man that's nuts. Hey what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Best thing I ever did in my divorce - get a lawyer.

In hind sight I would have never got married to begin with but hey no regrets.

Living out of your car sounds nuts. I moved in with my folks which was nuts but short lived. Whew life takes some crazy ass turns doesn't it?

Actually, living in my jeep was one of my best experiences!! It was nice, i would drive until i felt tired and pull off to sleep. If i woke up in the middle of the night and couldnt sleep, whether from bad memories or what ever, i'd just drive. I was free. It was comfy living, i had a bean bag that fit in the back of the jeep, and a cooler to hold my drinks. I stumbled across these photos the other day. I thought i lost them for ever lol.

As for the mustang, I drove a couple hours last night after work to pick up a pair of black front fenders for her! She's already starting to look like a real car again.

I've also got a line on a tekskid 4v pull out, as well as a 2v pull out with harness and trans. Trying to decide which route to go right now :/

Sounds like a very humbling experience honestly. In Florida it sounds almost impossible to do because of the near 100% humidity ALL THE TIME but sometimes we must hit rock bottom to build from.

Absolutely, the whole experience caused me to hit rock bottom. But while there it allowed me time to build a more solid foundation. A foundation built around my boys and I, that we are steadily building an empire from. If in the future i find a queen to enjoy this life with, great, if not the boys and i will have everything we've wanted.

As for living in the jeep, I loved it. I still enjoy taking the jeep out and sleeping in it. But now its more or less "camping" lol

I have a feeling that the 4v is going to happen. I've already negotiated the deal on the engine, just waiting for him to come back to Kansas.

I'm not too worried about the conversion. What i wish i had right about now is the original engine harness :/ would make life easier! hahaha

The order for the team Z suspension is going in tomorrow.

Wow, that's quite the story! Along with building Mustangs, I consider myself an avid camper, and love sleeping in my wheeler. I'll attach a picture for good measure.

Getting back on subject, what's your long term plan for this Stang? I cannot get Team Z, but if you'd like a decent price on a UPR, Maximum Motorsport or even a QA1 k-member, i'm your guy! Shoot me a PM and i'd be more than happy to get you prices.

Thanks,

- M

Every time I'm about ready to get rid of my wrecked Runner, someone has to post something like this and make me want to fix it.

Sinister, thats an awesome wheeler! I wasnt able to get my Jeep out as much as i would have liked to this summer. But after my accident in july when it sank to the bottom of a river, i decided to back off a little on the wheeling lol.

As of right now the goals for the car is to get it rolling by christmas, running by spring.

I've already installed the Team Z tubular K, waiting on the coils and coilovers to arrive. Saturday im going to go pick up a low mile mark 8 4v engine. I'll be doing long tubes, and full bolt ons for right now. With a TR3650 manual trans. Shooting for ~325-350 rwhp.

With an end goal of next winter putting a D1SC and forged short block, hoping for 600 hp. I've already started gathering parts for that part of the build.

I've got pretty much every part i'll need in a spreadsheet at home. Every time I order a part i cross it off the list. When i first typed the list i almost scared myself out of the build. But then got to thinking and realized that even if i had bought a running mustang, i'd still be doing the exact same thing. So why not. Plus my kids are getting involved in the build with me.
