I started with AJP and have been nothing but happy!

Got my AJP boost regulator mod installed (wastegate on intercooler to throttlebody piping, to keep throttle open and control boost spikes/fuel pressure) as well as catless downpipes installed. I love it! Car sounds really mean and runs amazing!

Neutral Revs:

Start Up (semi-warm):

I realized that I honestly DO NOT want to return to stock pipes, or get rid of my SHO at any point, so if you are still looking for stock downpipes let me know, mine are off the car.

I am keeping the stock intake, as I may return to the stock air intake depending on how the car runs at the track.

I bought it used, for a nice price. I know it contributed a bit to the spooling noise in those vids.

I like that intake but this car came with the k&n so I am watching for those deals on the forums around the net. Saw one pop up for like $130 shipped a few weeks back but didn't act fast enough. Also eying some hardpipes as well. I have always hated plastic pipes on boosted cars.

I really like the AirRaid, and from what I understand it has the biggest CFM based on filter testing.

Hardpipes are for sure worth it, my stock tubes with ~12k on them were starting to show some signs of distress, plus they look much better and allow for the option of going with an aftermarket BOV if you wish.

Have you seen the AJP Boost Regulator Mod? I highly recommend it as well, it replaced the stock noisemaker with a wastegate, that you can use to control boost spikes, and due to this you can leave the throttle fully open on shifts, otherwise you have to close the throttle on shifts.

This is the original mod: tial wastegate for charge piping

Here is the topic related to how I did mine with the charge pipes as well. AJPTurbo boost regulator mod with EcoPowerParts charge pipes

Not 100% sure if the set is still available, but there was a guy that posted on instagram a little while back, selling a used set (set up for stock BOV). His post was on the EcoPowerParts page as well, and his price was pretty reasonable. I ultimately got mine new though because I wanted the aftermarket BOV.

I totally feel ya on that. I don't really have any bolt-ons left, unless I go coilovers/put the car on H&Rs. I need to get my mustang done and up here with me so I can drop the sho off at a local fab shop and get a custom FMIC. After that its ATP turbos. By then hopefully Livernoise/someone will have the HPFP upgrade done, so I can get that as well, then look into injectors and in tank fuel pump upgrades.

hmm...

Do you know what else is done to it? I know I won't see anything crazy with the upgrade, but I believe I will need some form of upgrade to the stock piece to accommodate the ATPs anyway, as the stock unit is so prone to heatsoak.

As far as I have heard it has a built bottom end with a bit of headwork. Big single. Really bad lag. But makes some pretty crazy power at top end. I have always wondered why the sho guys don't spray the intercoolers.

Gotcha, since my car is my DD at the moment, I am trying to stay away from Meth as a solution for heat soak, it would great for a race only/track only application but just adds one more thing for me to worry about when I am around town. As for spraying the inter cooler, I would imagine it would work well, I know the guys that run meth see much better temperatures.

I am planning on having a custom fab shop that has done custom FMIC work for years do mine, hopefully it will turn out nicely, and then I can do the ATPs and crank the boost. At some point I am sure I will have to go into the engine, but for now I am hoping to avoid that in the short term.

As for the lag, I wonder what they have done to the turbos? The stock, and even ATP are small turbos so they should have almost no lag and quick spool on the low end, but run out of steam up top, ATPs are a bit better up top from what I hear.

This guy have a massive single sitting on the top of the engine lol.

I sprayed my intercooler on my mustang and it worked out great for track use. I don't like using meth or etc as a means to cool the charge. Would rather do e85 personally or spray the intercooler.

Well that's the culprit haha

Yeah I am thinking with the FMIC and in the warm I should be able to push ~18 PSI on stock turbos (currently I am at 16PSI and have a little margin left for fuel, but its 20 degrees or less, so I am not going to push it). Then with ATPs I should easily be able to run lower boost with the same power, and if there is room bump it back up till fuel is the concern. Then worry about the fuel system.

I am scheduling a dyno session soon for my car as well, I was thinking it would be somewhere around 400 awhp/400awtq conservatively, and have been given estimates up to 400awhp/500awtq so hopefully it is somewhere closer to the 400/500. I am sure I will see low 12s or maybe even break into 11s as the car sits now, based on running 12.87 on just CAI and tune with a 93 octane tune at 15psi.

Car is now at 16psi, E20 tuned (so I have about 17-20 degrees of spark advance vs. the 10 I had on 93), and has the charge pipes, wastegate mod, downpipes, and a 170 thermostat added since the last time at the track.

I never saw any power increase from any of my turbo cars from changing hot pipes or wastegates. Just saw more reliable and controllable boost. I haven't got one of these on the dyno yet to check it all out though. It seems some like the dynojets due to the inflation of numbers they can provide.

I dont expect a power increase from the charge pipes, but the wastegate mod, which is the one I linked to, should net some increase. Since it is allowing for flat boost at whatever level is commanded, and the throttle is able to remain open during shifts. May not be massive gains, but the car is deffinitely quicker post wastegate boost regulator than pre. The stock internal wastegates are still in place on the turbo side and taking care of that aspect of things.

You should get AJP to come over here and hang out a bit. I know he has a turbo mustang.

Here was my issue with Torrie @ Unleashed. I spoke to him a month before I bought the tuner and his tune then again spoke to him the day before I purchased it. I explained to him the mods I wanted and what I wanted him to do. He said no problem. Now I didn't have CEL with the unknown tune that was on the car when I bought it but from what was said by Torrie it was highly possible it was one of his older ones. I install his tune and instant CEL. Check the codes and its the downstream 02s which I had asked to have massaged a bit for offroad and track uses of course. When I wrote him about it all I get is straight verbatim EPA regulations and refusal to do anything else. This pissed me off. Don't try and catfish me FFS. So now I have a mycal as well as a x4. So looking at all my options since my main tuner doesn't have an AWD dyno to tune the car.

I'll shoot him a link to this thread in an email.

That is pretty crappy IMO, and definitely dumb to say something will be done then refuse it after payment is made.

I'm putting my car on the dyno this afternoon, so I'll have some numbers later today!
