Surprise surprise... I didn't finish ANOTHER project.

But this time it was for a good reason! I feel a little bad about the situation. I bought a 99 gt 6 months ago as a shell, and 4v swapped it. It was a project my boys and I have been working on. And planned on keeping for ever.

Until the opportunity presented it self for me to own one of my dream cars.

Two days ago I saw a post for an 03 Mach 1 for sale. In the color I wanted, oxford white; with the trans I wanted, manual; with the interior I wanted, iup.

I couldn't pass it up. So tonight I traded my 4v gt for a Mach one. And I'm completely stoked about it. The tag on my jeep is "ks yeti" and the tag for the mustang will be "yeti 20" and I'll put a little dot between the 20 in sharpie hahaha

That's a good reason why to not finish the GT. I bought a 03 black Mach in March. I haven't done much to it yet, besides get the A/C fixed. I still need to re tint the windows, get new front tires and a new CD player. After that I'll be looking at suspension and tracking down any weird noises. How many miles does it have? any mods done to it already, what kind of shape is the interior in?

Right on man. Mach is my favorite new edge - I just have a sour taste in my mouth with how things went with my '03 (entirely the fault of the previous owner). I think I would have PTSD if I had to work on one ever again LOL.

Just searched a few of your threads about your car. The thing is....that could have happen to any car not just your Mach. I've been lucky with cars I've bought over the years. I had a 2000 GT with 112k miles that I bought for 3k. Had it for 2 years, spent about $400 on a new CD player, LED's for the interior and a new IAC. I sold it in June 2015 for 2.9k. I was a great car and I wanted to keep it. But it was going to sit for a year and then I don't know how I was going to drive 3 cars 1,100 miles from Louisiana to Arizona with 2 drivers. No tow package on any of the cars. My point is, you never know what's going to happen. Did the previous owner beat up on it...it sounds like it, but I could be wrong.

I mean I take full responsibility. I was young, dumb and wearing rose-tinted glasses - I jumped the gun, got too excited and took someone else's project over taking their word that it was just a throttle body and tune away from being fine. There were tons of red flags before I purchased it that I was downplaying due to some of the rare(ish) components on the car. Lesson learned. Unfortunately, there's no way to know just HOW BAD someone can treat a car until you've taken it apart down to it's bones and see how they cut part of the radiator support with tin snips, or stripped one out of every four bolt holes on every single piece of the vehicle, etc etc.

Anyway, no need to go back down that road. I wasn't implying that people should be wary of Mach 1's. They're fucking bad ass. MY Mach 1 was a nightmare - but that was a very specific case. I would love to own another one - I was just jokingly implying that it would stress me out the first time I pulled the shaker off the top of the engine.

Sorry to hear all that, that sucks. There's problems with mine, but hopefully they aren't that bad. Good luck in the future for you.

Ha! You'll be fine as long as you didn't buy it from someone who was trying to twin-turbo it but gave up half way through and tried to revert back to N/A

OP, you planning to keep the wheels? Please say no!

There are definetly a few quirks with this car that i've noticed today. I've driven ~300 miles or so. Has a small coolant leak, some very minor bolster wear, a few small rock chips. But I took her to a wedding yesterday and averaged 21.94 mpg there and back. Which I was impressed by, im used to my '12 JKU getting ~13-15 mpg.

Wheels are going away very very soon.

I'm really thinking about running a set of 10th anni satin black rims on it. Because they're pretty close to what im running on my JKU.

Edit : I just realized how hard it is to see the damn rims in this pic :/ hahaha

They are procomp 7031 that i painted the outer lip white to give it a fake bead lock look.

---------- Post added at 03:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:12 PM ----------

I've finally come up with a list of known mod's on the car currently.

2003 Mach 1
135k on body, has 75k on the engine

* intake spacer
* steeda underdrive pullies
* bbk o/r X pipe
* Mac catback
* kyb adjustable shocks on all 4 corners
* sve upper and lower control arms
* unsure on lowering springs
* caster camber plates
* B&M short shifter on a t45 trans (swapped in for some reason??)
* energy engine/trans mounts
* drilled and slotted rotors

He included a set of 96-98 cobra cams, mosier 31 spline axles/diff and a set of frpp 373 gears.

dafuq?

Seems like a reasonable excuse for a T56 swap

Yep! that was my exact thought process as well actually. First things first, getting rid of those damn 3.27 gears in the rear end.

I'm planning on doing a cold air intake, getting a tuner, and maybe some long tubes.

Then i'm going to concentrate on suspension: Tubular K, coil overs, built rear end, etc. (basically everything i had literally JUST done to the black car)

So I just finished giving the Mach a fresh oil change. Starting to get a little worried about the car ?

So when I got it, I noticed the front bumper was slightly different white then the body. And that the rear bumpers paint was spider webbed in a couple spots

Then the air bag light started blinking... turns out my car has no air bags. Well that's not good?!

But wait! It gets better. I lifted the car and crawled under it tonight for the oil change. First thing I see is both pinch seams are crazy wavy and messed up. Like someone took a crescent wrench and started trying to "straiten" them.

Then I see something I never thought I'd see one a car like this.

It's got energy engine/trans mounts alright, the trans mount was being held up by ONE bolt and it was on its last thread. I put the jack under it and was able to flick the bolt and it came out. I'm so glad I was changing the oil tonight or the trans mount would have come un bolted tomorrow on the drive to work.

Luckily I've got 3 parts cars and was able to grab the trans mount bolts I needed and fixed it.

Figured out the coolant leak is actually my ac leaking. So I suppose it's time for an ac delete now too. (This was my first vehicle to have ac in years ?)

Was the trade a straight trade or did you throw money on top?

Because if it was a straight trade you live in a fantasy land of epic proportions if you thought you were able to trade a 4v swapped GT for a Mach1 and not find out it's been wrecked or something.

Pretty standard paint discrepancies between plastic, fiberglass and metal parts of the car. My 99 GT was noticeably different colored between panels just due to paint fade. May be an issue, may not.

Yeah, if you weren't told about that, it's either sketchy and the car was wrecked or the dude wanted 'bcuzracecar'

I don't think I've ever seen a New Edge Mustang where the pinch welds weren't mangled due to using it as a jacking point.

No, the trade wasnt straight across, i traded my project, a tavor, an r1 1911, a remington 700 .223 in a magpul chassis, an xds .45, and a few thousand rounds.

Trade value was in the neighborhood of 7k or so.

I wasnt expecting something in MINT condition, but when asked if it was wrecked i was told no, when asked about the air bag light he said it just came on one day.

I by no means feel like i got took, i'm stoked about the car. Just wish the car could talk so i could know its history i suppose. lol

Thanks man! Its going to be a fun build for sure. I've always wanted an OW Mach, so i really feel like this car might not go away.

Goals are to run low 11 high 10 by the end of the summer :/

Weight reduction, gears, nitrous, and a drag pack.

I bought mine knowing it had some issues, but I was willing to take. I got it for a good price and I think it's going to be a good car in the end. How many miles does your Mach have? Mine was sitting at just under 115k.

The chassis has 135k on it, and the engine has 75k. The engine came out of my friends mach (didnt realize it until i already had the car lol)

Well, the mach sure has been a fun toy the last couple of months. I never made it to the track to get any base numbers, but that's alright.

So far since picking the car up I've done the following :

Mosier 31 spline axles
Frpp lsd
Frpp 3.73 gears
Frpp dif cover
Frpp bearing kit
Jlt ram air intake
Sct sx4 tuner
Smoked head lights
Smoked tail lights
Battery relocation
Wire tuck
A.c. delete (complete delete, running a shorter belt with no pulley at all where the a.c. was)

Next step is doing the team z tubular k member with coil overs, the 96-98 cobra cams, and a drag pack.
