I'll try. it seems the beading is pretty much gone already. Not so small dots now. Maybe a claybar will just fix that.

the excessive rain should be the cause of this and claying should no be necessary you just did it. I suggest re applying some wax or sealant if you have some (sealant that is) as soon as you get a chance. Just make sure you do a good wash and dry before if you want you can even do a IPA wipe down then re apply or make you car wash solution stronger than normal to strip off the old wax.

Wow after the wash tday. my car just looks like shit as it did before.. there ar some reallysmall swirls but lots of them! maybe i need a even more finer compund and use a medium grade pad.. and yeah the beding is pretty much gone.. also noticed i have a littl bit of hail damage on my trunk.. fuck my life.
i bet most of those swirls are back cause when it was hailing i went and putmy car cover onto my dirty ass car what waste of life.

Hey, i know this is alot of legwork, but if your serious about cars lookin good for time to come take this advice.
( I own a car lot and have alot of experience with detailing)

Drive around and find a good car lot that is not like a ford or GM only dealer. Like a high end used car lot is best. Find one with cars you think look really well detailed and just go in and ask. Go in and say youd like to know if they do detailing for customers and what not and just see what they use. Most the time they will tell you and find out where to get it.

TRUST ME ON THIS: THE BEST PRODUCTS FOR DETAILING ARE NOT SOLD AT AUTOZONE OR ADVANCE.
if you find someone cool at the car lot or detail shop theyll let you know where to go.

And as far as a buffer spend the extra money, you want one that spins at least 3k. go with a makita buffer if youve got it in your budget. And never use the pads that tie on to your buffer, get the ones that the full back velcros on to the wheel. The tie on ones tend to fly off and scratch up cars when the wheel touches the paint.
If you have any questions let me know ive got lots of little ideas and remedies. I found a lot that introduced me to a guy who blends his own chemicals about an hour away... some of the best degreasers and waxes ever.

Well you might have to go over it again with M205 and a white pad, then IPA wipe down and then protect it. But test a section first to see if it takes out the swirls if not your going to have to use your M105 again. This is all done of course after you do a good washing and drying and prepping the surface

Ok... there is no way you removed all the swirls, and after one wash its back that bad. You probally never really removed them.

Like I said before, you need LIGHT and LOTS of it. Otherwise you will NOT see the scratches and swirls. M205 has a lot of fillers in it that will mask the swirls and scratches. Also, there is NO way your protection is already gone. You would of had to of washed the car with a highly concentrated solution to strip it all off after one wash.

I hate to say it bro, but you rushed into this WAY to fast. I tried to tell you to wait a min, talk to us about what products you are using, techniques to use them, ect. Detailing is not something you can ask 5 questions, do it, and expect great results. I asked PAGES of questions and I still had to research a lot before I started. Even then, I was not doing very well.

You need to go back and start from scratch. Wipe down the car with IPA (after a wash), Polish with M105/Orange (this polish has a very steep learning curve, IPA wipe down each body panel and insect your work with BRIGHT light, Polish with M205/White, IPA Wipe down and inspect, PO85RD w/ Gray pad, seal, wax. After every single body panel you need to do an IPA wipe down to inspect your results. This will remove ANY left of polish fillers and give you a true view into the paint's condition after your polishing. You must do this with bright light. If you are going for perfection, you must use a high light source.

EDIT:
What kind of wash mitt and soap are you using? Are your using the 2 bucket method? Are you washing in straight lines? Are you dipping your mitt into the rinse bucket frequently? What did you use to dry the car? Did you use the Blotting Method or QD + Wipe?

Please anwser these questions, as I need to know them so I can better direct you on this problem.

start on someone elses car. Learn to use your buffer on a white car or something. Agreed with the above post. TAKE A WEEK AND DETAIL EVERYONES CAR THAT WILL LET YOU before you get into yours. dark cars are the hardest. detailing truly is an art man and you cant just pick it up with no practice. theres a reason why everyones car doesnt shine like crazy.

I disagree about learning on other's cars however. If you mess something up, you have to pay for it to get fixed. If its on your car, its atleast your own property.

Just take your time, learn, and don't jump into this expecting great results. It takes time to learn how to do this right. Even I don't do it perfectly yet.

I started on my dads hood on his black truck. it looks absolutely mint now for a 94.
It has rained here more in 2 weeks then it usually does for a whole year. I mean every single day it has rained.
I do the 2 step bucket meathod. and use a Shammy to drive it off for a streakless shine.
I think the reason why i have so many damn swirls is cause i put the car cover on the night it hailed on my dirty car..
I need to pick up the proper pads for sure. Car show is on Aug 20th so i got some time.
I also think i should pick up a lighter compound then the ,205.

Washmit i'm using isnt really a washmit it's like a little soft scrubby thing. I dunno. its like a sponge.

A lot of rain will affect your LSP's time that it last... but rain water will not remove it. No idea why your car is not beading water. I know when its really dirty it will not bead very well however until its clean. The dirt sometimes makes the water cake together.

A shammy? You need a Waffle Weave Microfiber towel. You also need to use a air blower to blow the water off followed by either the blotting method or Quick Detailer + Wiping with the Waffle Weave.

M205 is a Polish, not a Compound. M105 is a compound. You need to purchase something like Menzerna PO85RD. Its a super fine finishing polish that can be used after M205 to bring out the ultimate gloss from the paint.

Get you a Sheepskin/Lambswool wash mitt. Sponges hold onto dirt particles reallllly bad.


What soap are you using and how much are you using per bucket? Are your buckets 5 gallon buckets?

Mike next time you detail your car, set aside at least 2 days man. Take your time with it, detailing is an art form.

Good point. When learning its going to take your some time. My first two details took about 20hrs of work. As you get a process tuned in and get better it will take less time.

Indeed it does Zat.

When you told me that #105 flashed really quick, I believed you but I had no idea just how quick it actually did.

Mike to get some extra practice you could polish the underside of your spoiler. Good place to practice cause if you mess up, not many people will notice. That is what I did with Meguiars #105 & #205

You need to do some more research Mike. But dont get discouraged detailing is about taking time on the little details. I mean of course you dont want to take forever either but enough time to where you can get the job done correctly. Check out these links man they should help you out, also take your time to go over everything on the both you will learn alot.

Ya, I am considering replacing M105. Currently looking at Menzerna Intensive Polish. I just don't like how M105 dries so quick and its a PITA to get it off sometimes.

Lol... never expect to get into detailing and not spend a LOT of money. I have spent close to $700 and that is cheap for most high end detailers.

Like I said, you jumped into this thinking it was gonna cost $200, spend a day working on it, and get amazing results... don't work like that

I have already spent like $650 and I still need more items and products, it costs to do this. In the end it will be worth it at least im hoping so .
