I didnt get my car at the ford dealership....I got it at CARMAX.... =( No warranty...and thankyou for the very inforamtive info about the pump...it does come from the tire area--like behind it...toobad I took it to rafield tire( they do mechanic stuff) and minekee, while my car was under a 30 day warranty and noone could find anything...so now, of course, the warranty is up....if the pump goes completely bad will the car break down?

you will still be able to drive the car, however you will shortly know when it fails by the illumation of your SES light when the pump stops or seizes, im not sure if where you live requires emissions testing but this would likely make your fail testing if required. Also the illumination of the SES light might make you fail state inspection?

I would try taking it to the dealership it may still be covered by the original owner's 3year 36,000 mile warranty?

Im assuming that would mean zero cost? If it is under a 36,000.00 mile warranty. I guess I will call the dealership to find out if it is under a warranty...the ford dealership

explain to them the noise you hear, explain to them the location it is coming from and the times it happens. attempt to duplicate this issue for them if you can. explain to them that you beleive your smog pump is making noises at startup or when it is activated?

the tune up is not under the warranty, it would be elective, as part of routine maintenace like brake pads.

looking for a new project stang

I thought that Ford's warranty was 3 years 36,000 miles. I know I bought my wifes Taurus from an independant dealer but had them fix my heater blower at 35K for nothing. Well at least you won't have to paty for it...
