I read a review that said it acually only puts out 550 real wattage at 12.5v to one channel on a 2 ohm load...

Makes me wonder how much my amp is really pushing... its ratted for 1000watts at 14.4v so I imagine some where around 800-900watts at 12.5v. But now I see manufactures pad the numbers... so I could be only sending 600-700ish watts to them....

Hmmm...

Well, it was the amp. Picked up one, plugged it in with the current wires (except for the RCAs and Lead turn on) and it came right up.

It seemed very underpowered. Granted I went from a 1000watts RMS amp to a 600watt RMS amp.... but I had to turn the Bass Boost to 12db and the gain almost all the way up... could of been the TV RCAs as well?

Anyways... now I need suggestions for a mono block amp pushing around 1000watts RMS x1 @ 2ohm load... Let the suggestions fly!!

i bet if you were to take that amp apart you would be able to find the problem. i have an old rockford amp that is rated at 1500w continuous @ 2ohms and had that problem, it turned out that one of the solder points that connects the rca terminal to the board was cracked. worth a try. other than that I would look into some of the kenwood, alpine, rockford, etc... amps.

I'm running a 2-channel 760watt Pioneer, not sure how it would compare to a 1000watt but for my two 10" Kickers it works great...
