After waiting 2 months for my cam replacement, replacing all 24 lashers and roller followers...I'm back together and she's running.

Little late but on friday, I bought the smoked Vector taillights on the black friday sale on AM. Been looking at those but wasn't crazy about the price, and they went and knocked $90 off it so I said what the hell.

Also bought a matching clear smoked LED third brake light, and today I bought some '11-14 style door panels to replace mine. Couldn't find a good price on '05-09 ones in black and the '11-14 ones are all over the place, and I read a post somewhere about making them work so I said what the hell.

Had urethane front & rear anti-sway bar bushings installed last week plus a car bubble bath/polish, engine bay cleaning, and color coded the oil catch can valve cover breather.

You cleaned the engine bay but not the motor?

Those look sharp. Is it just wiring and stuff that needs to be done to get those on or are there differences structurally?

I found a post on AFM from a guy from a few years ago who did the swap and did most of the legwork for me in that regard- he said the plugs on the window switches are different, a couple posts on the back need cut down, a few of the mounting holes are in different places, etc. Doesn't seem too hard to figure out. He also had installed pictures and they look good, the little bump up at the back that matches the 11-14 body line is barely noticeable if you aren't looking for it.

I think these will be a nice upgrade from my panels with the saggy vinyl.

Yeah that little flip on the back would probably bother me but take pics, I wanna see. My vinyl is just starting to bubble. I was think about a syringe with some kragle might hold it for a little while.

Of course I degreased the motor as well. Did you think I'd only clean the engine bay and leave the motor looking dirty?
Unfortunately the desert atmosphere where I live is often pretty dusty so it's a waste of time being anal about having the engine spotlessly clean.

Sooo...wasn't sure if I was gonna get these, but here's another little goodie I got today from RockAuto:

4 piston 2015 GT calipers! I've seen some posts where guys fit them up with 14" S197 rotors and they were really close, so I'm going to make them work (and upgrade to 18 or 19" wheels). I got these, including core charge, for less than I've seen people selling them on ebay. These things are freaking huge too.

Obviously I have a few winter projects planned.

I live in the desert too. Probably not as extreme, but plenty dusty and sandy here. I spend about 30 minutes every 3-4 months. Simple, spray on, let sit, rinse and a little foamy tire shine sprayed and then wiped off. Results are worth the little effort and time. Once you get it clean it is easy to maintain.

Aha, so tire foam is the magic formula. I'm gonna give that a try!

I use the F-22 turtle wax tire foam. Just spray it on and let it sit for a couple and wipe off any excess.

So I did a little work on my '11+ door panels today (just the driver's side).

For the most part they slip right on. I put the panels up side by side and these are the only real huge differences ('11+ panel on left, original on right). The '11+ panel has the front post moved forward (circled on left) which has to be cut off. Also the back of whatever this huge plastic thing is (is that a resonance chamber for the sub or something?) is larger than the original one which will probably cause some problems with the vapor barrier. I'm trying to see if I can find '11-14 vapor barriers somewhere because mine are all jacked up anyway. One thing that isn't circled, the rearmost mounting screw holes are in different spots, that will be something else to figure out as I really don't want to just drill holes in the panel.

I got them mostly fitting up but something is hitting along the bottom of the panel keeping them from sitting flush against the door- can't figure out what it is. Hopefully I can because these door panels look awesome.

One last tidbit- the S550 caliper retrofit might be easier than I originally thought. This is an '05-14 standard (non-brembo) brake line, bolts right up to the S550 caliper.

Ordered a couple of cheap replacement HID bulbs since I've been driving with the fog lights for the last couple of days.

A few weeks ago I had to replace my timing cover so I painted it to match the valve covers and threw some cool pulleys on it.

The crinkle paint is pretty cool.
Goes on and looks like regular paint though a little thicker. When I first looked at it I said that looks like shit. And then as soon as it dried it got the crinkle look. But it is smooth to the touch. Weird stuff.

I hope you have better luck with the wrinkle paint than I did in the past. I painted the aluminum valve cover on my old 2.3 Turbo with wrinkle black, it held up great for a year or so, then started to peel in spots- which I suspect was due to oxidation forming on the aluminum under the paint.

I'm not too worried about it. It was a brand new cover so the surface should have been pretty good with my simple prep/cleaning. I just couldn't throw it on there naked.

I found that prep is most important for any paint on alum. I tried 3 different brands of paint till I got duplicolor to work. I am going to redo my engine paints this coming spring and want to know if anyone knows of Ford Blue Wrinkle paint?

I know VHT makes a blue wrinkle paint but I don't know how close it is to Ford blue. I know there is a Ford blue powder coat product out there.

Just had my 3rd led from superbrightleds.com burn out. Changing the license plate light can be a bitch getting it back in.

I also have had a set of bmr lower control arms and relocation brackets sitting in my basement for a month, but haven't had good enough weather to want to crawl around on the ground to replace them yet
