backlighting grill emblem

Anyone ever seen anyone that has backlit the pony emblem on the grill?

I found a super thin LED that runs off 12v and I think I'm going to place it behind the emblem, it should glow around the pony if I'm thinking right. What do you guys think?

I should elaborate a little, i'm putting it between the pony and the backing that it mounts to and wiring it up to my parking lights

it probably won't look as awesome as you're imagining it would. i'm thinking it would probably just highlight the honeycomb pattern around the pony and you likely wouldn't even see the pony with it lit up at night.

easy enough to try it out-just put a light behind it at night. You might need to have the led's pointed forward (at the back of the pony emblem) so you don't illuminate the radiator and other unsightly behind-the-grille stuff.
Also-you shold definitely not be able to see the actual led itself from any angle.

That said, I'm curious.
That lighted pony from post #4 is God-awful.

See, here's what it looks like behind the grill.

If you were to cut out the plastic that the pony mounts to and then glue in some clear acrylic (or something similar) AND THEN mount the pony on that (making an acrylic sandwich with grill and pony buns), then I could see it working out ok.

I am thinking of making my pony less noticable by blacking it out with Plasti Dip, to each his own.

perfect way of wording it. since there is a backing to the emblem, it would be a grill, LED, emblem sandwich, its exactly how they sometiimes backlights signs and things against a wall. Hell the LED only costs like 5 bucks, what harm could it do?

I say go for it! I think it would look pretty cool with a slight glow around the running horse. Be sure to follow up with pics if you do it. GL!
