Hey Fellas,

My girlfriend's birthday is coming up, and I'm gonna surprise her with a C&L Intake and SCT Tuner for her 08 GT Automatic, thing is, I dont know which tuner to buy from to tune the "Automatic" Transmission. I cant seem to narrow down using the search button to what I'm looking for or get any good reviews on certain tuners results with an auto. It's her daily driver but she sure likes to mash the gas pedal hard every now and then.

All you automatics, who do you recommend for the Auto?

Bama, Brenspeed, VMP,....?

Sorry, I should have clarified it a little better.

The tuner I meant as in, (ex. Bama, Brenspeed, VMP Tuning, etc.)

Contact JDM. They use to race a 2010 Roush 427r (they called it their 727R) that had an auto transmission. They specialize in the 5r55 auto transmission (that's the transmission that's in your g/f's mustang). They probably know that transmission better then any other tuner. I've heard nothing but GREAT things about their auto transmission tune.

Agreed. JDM is probably the industry leader with the 5R55S.

my question is:

are you getting the cai/tuner because you would think it was an awesome gift or because she actually wants it. most women would probably be saying "oh it's so awesome", but they would be thinking "nice so he got himself a gift for when he drives my car"

Maverick,

Wow, what a great birthday present! I'm sure shes gonna love the new found power and under hood cosmetics of a C&L CAI and Custom tune.

Our head tuning specialist Mike Wilson has been tuning Mustangs for 15+ years and definitely has every aspect of the field figured out. With our custom tunes the Automatic benefits the most because we have the ability to adjust every aspect of the shift points table. If you've already decided on the C&L CAI then I'd look no further then the C&L and SF3 Tuner with Bama custom tunes and Free tunes for life! With this set up you'll pick up about 25+ RWHP and 25+ RWTQ.

Here's a little about how we write our tunes. For every Bama Tune we ask you 19 questions about your specific Mustang, including your unique mods and style of driving. This info helps us write custom tunes from the ground-up for your Mustang's mods that will give you the most horsepower that we can safely deliver. We're also constantly developing our tunes! Between our 14 different Project Mustangs and tons of street/track and dyno testing (on our in-house Dynojet 224xLC), we're looking for any minor tweaks to be made that can benefit you guys. We're also part of Fords Technology Transfer Program & Work very closely with Ford to insure that all of our tunes are perfect!

This is just the beginning of what Bama has to offer you. Let me know if you have any questions! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

I have a diablosport predator tuned with Bama and they have tried everything to get it to shift smoother at slow speeds but can't seem to get it right. I am just living with it now and am thinking about going over to sct if 07 boss says it is different then I am convinced.

Well hold off a bit because even though there is more they can do my shifts are still pretty harsh. My issue is the Level10 tranny is real tight (And I have the shift pressure down real low) and my converter is now too loose for the torquei'm producing. The converter lock up is much firmer than the actual gear shifts. So much so that sometimes the belt chirps.
I actually want to try and turn off all the tables used for shifting and try to base up shifts and downshifts based solely on RPM or speed. Though it shifts good during medium and hard throttle situations it is the low speed or light throttle applications that I am having issues with.

Another vote for BAMA (from AMdotcom) here. Can't beat free tunes for life. I have an SCT XF3 for my 08 GT and have never had a problem. That's the one I'd recommend. I think there's actually a new one out but not sure.

Tuners are definitely worth it. I'd tune my ****in lawnmower if I could.

I have an 08 auto with a bama sct sf3 tuner. It made a huge difference in my car I love it. Also if you get it from American muscle as a combo you get free tunes for life. Whenever I change something to my car I just get online place an order and they will email 3 new tunes ( street, performance, race) within the same day sometimes only take a cple hours.

About a year ago I had a BAMA tunes. Before my cams their tune was great but after I swapped cams I didn't like what they did with my tune, felt really abrupt, as in the power came on rough and at higher then desirable RPMs(I know cams can do this but I have 4.10s and I didn't get a SPR or even a VSR cam). I ran a 13.6 in the quarter with their tunes. I didn't change anything but went to VMP tune and ran a 12.8 in similar track conditions, same tires. The car feels all around smoother and gets better fuel economy. As well as .8 off my 1/4 mile times.

Reason I am quoting Mike is because without him being a VMP fanboy I never would have known they existed! Just kidding buddy...But seriously you are always spouting off about how great they are.

Get it dynotuned. It will get the absolute most out of your car and if there is an issue you can show up and talk to the tuner. Not email tag and emailed tunes.
I'd go with bama though if I was getting it remotely tuned. Free tunes for life is tough to turn down
