Thanks for the lead! After looking for a while I think I like the GT500 steering wheel a little better. I am assuming that the wiring setup would be the same, does that sound about right?

It should be just about the same, the only thing that may change is the GT500 has a few extra media buttons when compared to the Boss so the wiring might be slightly different to get the extra buttons working.

Just an additional piece of information for anyone trying this/having issues. When you program the PAC make sure you have the car running, with headlights on, and AC at full blast. If you don't do this then the PAC will be shoddy whenever the headlights are on as a result of the extra power.

So far the best bang for the buck would have to be this wheel I just installed, Found it cheaper then the premiums

Wow that's cheap if its legit. I paid almost double for my boss wheel.

I followed your instructions to a T but am thinking I wired the resistor improperly. I am doing the GT500 wheel in a 2005 Mustang GT and using a PAC SWI-RC. I have power to the wheel, cruise control works, and I have power to the PAC. When I go to program the PAC, it won't register any buttons being pressed. All I can think is that I have either the wire coming from the Button plug wired wrong or the resistor is not done correctly. Any chance you can walk me through a quick resistor wiring?

Update:

I got the GT500 wheel working with Volume, Changing Tracks and using the Music Icon to change my source. The Sync, Phone, and OK buttons do not work with this wiring setup but I am perfectly ok with that. My issues were possibly two fold but I definitely had the Resistor wired wrong (Never wire while tired); I originally cut the white and joined it with the purple and then ran the resistor to the other part of my white wire from the joined white and purple. What I needed to do was solder one end of the resistor to the purple wire in line and then the other end to both white halves. I also cut the green wire from the wheel controls and joined it to the ground as another member had suggested. Thankful for this forum and I love my new set up.

Glad you got it working, sorry I can't help with the phone buttons, I'd love to get them working myself, but the Boss wheel doesn't come with the wiring harness so I can't do it on mine.

A Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS which I am loving. I don't really care about the App Radio portion of it but everything works great on it and it looks perfect in the car. Setup was a piece of cake.

Good morning everyone!
I am really interested in swapping my poor steering wheel from my '06 V6 with a Boss wheel, and add the audio controls for a Pioneer head unit.
The problem is I can barely find the WPT-440, since it has been replaced by WPT-1242.
Can I go ahead and purchase the 1242 or that won't work? I couldn't find any compatibility charts.

You can still find the WPT-440 on ebay. That is where I got mine awhile ago. They are not cheap, but it was the only place to easily find them.

Just received my wheel: WOW
It really is something else than the stock one...
Received the PAC as well but it looks different than the one from the DIY, I have to inquire about that. Just waiting for my WPT now. ETA on Friday, I can't wait!

Which PAC do you have? Mine is the SWI-PS, but it varies based on your radio's brand.
