Alright, I give up on this crap

okay, lately I've made some post on here regarding my 1-2nd shift problems. I adjusted my mgw shifter to the longest possible throw to reduce the notchiness, I got new engine poly mounts, and I got the CHE k member brace with torque limiters. it definitely helped my 1-2 shift but it still isn't on point. Some shifts were incredibly smooth and some of them were complete crap. I'm stumped... I don't think it's my tranny cause I've had this problem since I pretty much got the mgw a year ago and the tranny shifts real good even at 90% throttle. No grinds, no nothing. Just 1-2 shift locks me out for a split second and it's so annoying it's like the car loses momentum before I can shift. The clutch also feels nice.

Then I remembered this video which is me on spray which was about a month before the mgw shifter

Watch "2010 Mustang GT 75 shot" on YouTube

Could it be my shifter?

do you still have the stock shifter? id put that back in and see if its "fixed". it also could be your clutch is on its way out. mine was doing the 2-3 lock out a bit and for the next 10k miles was fine just lock out on 2-3 if i was shifting at over 6k. one day got on 95 and the dang clutch grenaded lol. new clutch and no 2-3 problems at all even power shifting at 6500 (which i very rarely do).

07 gt, CMS cams, hurst, CAI/tuned, LT's, o/r h, m80's, FRPP mani, UDP, lowered with steeda 1.25/1.5, exedy mach 400/race flywheel, 1-pc DS, BMR upper/lowers, 4.10's, CHE brace with TL's, and a few other things that dont add up to much.

Could it really take a year + for the tranny to wear out? Plus adjusting the mgw to the longest throw definitely helped....

The clutch was replaced a year ago and I've put maybe 15k miles on it. If it is my transmission what are some options I can look into to alleviate the problem?

The synchronizer is just worn out, if you want an immediate improvement you can try a fluid change, it may help some. Otherwise its rebuild time

I had all the fluids flushed. This is so frustrating. This car has never seen a track in its life and spends 99% of its life under 3k rpm all for a tranny failure at 55k miles??

Do 4.10 gears hurt the tranny? might be a noob question but I want to avoid future problems from reoccurring

No I got this car brand new with 15 miles on it. I still don't know if it's the trans... When I adjusted my shifter it seemed to help a lot so it could be that mgw doesn't live up to its reputation. Which in all honesty this problem started pretty much right after I put the mgw in and the mgw's linkage came undone once and left me stranded so needless to say I'm not very pleased with it. I have my old Hurst shifter laying around somewhere I'm going to put that back in and see if it helps.

Could be the clutch being worn or the trans. Stock clutches are weak as hell. At 15k I had to replace mine because I burned. All I did was hit the gas in second gear wasn't on the clutch and it slipped bad.

The 3650 is just a weak trans that wears out prematurely, its no mt-82 where its a ticking time bomb though. Have the synchro replaced and it'll shift like butter

That may be your issue right there. Or the tranny. It's probably not the MGW.

Go back to the stock shifter or the Hurst. See if the problem persists. It does sound like a bad syncro or clutch.

This is exactly what happened to me. Kept getting locked out 2-3 shift. I got the brace with tq limiters and a mgw shifter helped none but them was racing a friends corvette and the clutch grenaded. It's your clutch man get a new one before it leaves you stranded somewhere.

You have to pull the trans regardless, inspect thw clutch while its out, if alls good then have the trans rebuilt
