Post Need Honest Opinions On New wheel Choice

Hello guys I'm in the middle of ordering a few more parts for my GT, but I can not decide on wheels. I really like the look of this wheel Billet Specialties | Street Smart Line | Launch | Billet Specialties, Inc. but have never heard of them or even seen these on an S197. Have any of you seen these in person or know anything about quality? Do you all think they would look good on an s197? They offer custom back spacing but I don't know what backspacing would be best. Any help would be great, and I will give rep.

I'm looking at the 18x9.5 squared, and my car is lowered on FRPP 1" springs.

Either these wheels or screw it and go with some concave style wheels 19".

Those are some nice rims. I like them. Super clean look to them. Not sure on the backspacing though, but I would rock those if I could drop $2k on wheels.

If you don't mind rivets, you could give the SVE Series 2 wheels a shot. Pretty similar, but they only come in 19x9 or 19x10. That being said, they're also $200 cheaper.

SVE Mustang Series 2 Wheel - 19x9" Chrome (05-14) - LatemodelRestoration.com

Or, you could just take the backspace of the SVE wheels, which is 6.76" for the 9" wide wheel (so you'd add a half inch I think meaning you would need a 7.26" backspace on the 18x9.5 wheel. Billet Specialties says the max they can do is 7" backspacing though, so maybe you should just give them a call and see what they recommend.

Looks like that math is correct. The GT500 wheels (Chrome 2007 GT500 Mustang Wheel (18x9.5) (05-14 All) - Free Shipping) are 18x9.5" with 7.22" backspacing.

I voted but rescind my vote if you can't get the proper backspacing.

Would .22 make a big difference? Since the most they offer is 7.00''

That means the offset will be different. Will make them stick out further from the fender. They look good, but imo those belong on like a resto mod or the likes. With that said, I love and I mean absolutely love the way True Forge wheels look on a terminator Cobra.

Da ass on that slobra my god. For width on the rim I would go as wide as you can so like a 10.5 or even an 11. That way if you want or need more tire your not out 2k on rims, I'm happy I did it. I went from 285 f1 supercars to 305 555Rs and thankfully didn't need to change rims.

Well, that's almost a quarter inch. You would have to decide if you're willing to risk getting them and it looking like ass because it sticks out too far. Or you could contact them and ask for the measurements of the inside of the hub to the outside of the rim and then compare the measurements on your own car. As far as will that affect rubbing, I have no idea.

You should PM Whiskey. He understands wheels and suspension much better than I (or most people) do. Jucostud is also a good resource on wheel fitment. He's run pretty much every size combo known to man. Kelly from BMR may chime in if he visits MM soon as well.

I was planning on running 295/45/18 on the av 06, but at 28.5" tall I felt it would like my car was sitting on balloons, so instead ill be going with 285/40/18. Theyre 27" tall and should work well with my 4.10

Dang those forgestars and AV-20's are nice. The SVE are sweet but I just don't like rivets. My original intention was to run the SVE deep dish 10th anniversary but no one sells them anymore so I started looking for other split 5 spoke deep dish wheels, but I'm starting to think my old school (2003 Mach 1) deep dish mentality is a little dated for the s197, maybe it's time to go 19's and a concave face! Honestly the biggest factor holding me back on 19's is i am afraid my performance will suffer, I wonder if 1 inch would even be noticeable? I'll be ordering wheels this weekend maybe wait till Monday so keep the opinions coming guys. Right now I'm leaning towards a concave style wheel!

I agree with you on the rivets. If they didn't have rivets, I'd have already listed my current wheels for sale.

I love a good concave wheel. I think you'll find that, if you can afford/find the tires you like for 19" then it would look great. 18" obviously would be a smoother ride, and 20" wheels look great, but 19" will fall right in the middle. On a 19" wheel, tire size will be the make or break factor.

My only issue with them is they have almost no lip. This has me looking at the Miro 398s which have a 2.5" lip.

No doubt...I love those Termis with that deep-dish staggered look.
