ford racing 62mm TB

hey all, question, im considering buying a used FR 62mm TB polished one. trading for a stock TB and cash for Long Tubes (for buyer).

first off it wont be the end of the world if i don't purchase it, but the buyer has limited mods, TB, C&L CAI. and Stingers? exhaust. would it be beneficial for him to hold on to the TB or hinder his performance for the time being.

his goal is street, auto-X, road course.

i know you guys have lots of info on this and anything and everything is appreciated.

my mods listed below
minus the BBK, that was total crap. stock one in for now.

C'mon, let's here some opinions.

Worth it w/o forced induction or heavy mods?

I wouldn't. It's pretty and all but I think gains are going to minimal if at all. If you have plans down the road then it might be an opportunity depending on how much cash is involved.

Im with boss, pass.

I personally would only get the frpp tb if i was fi or had cams, lts, and the frpp intake. Otherwise its an expensive paper weight.

so yeah i think with my mods it would complement stuff nicely, but not too nice. plus having something chrome in the engine bay might distract me from other crap i want to mod.

so mustang_aidan wants some pacesetter LT's, i have sold him my off road H for pacesetters.

the deal is i pay for the LT's and he gives me his TB for my TB.

so for his future plan in mods, should he keep it in the mean time or sell it?

I thought most agreed that NA with cams and LTs could benefit from the 62mm TB? Not a lot, but a little increase in mid to high end performance. Which LTs do you have to buy in trade?

2005 Mustang GT w/ 4.56s, Hurst shifter, Kooks & Pype-Bombs, Stage II cams, CMDPs, C&L Street CAI, FRPP Springs, Koni STR.Ts, BMR PHB, FRPP LCAs & FCAs

I fell into one and put it on my car. I did notice a increase in throttle response. It seemed to work well with my m90.

hey MassMustang, the LT in trade are the Pacesetters, just like 07Boss and many others.

Get it! I have one, you get better throttle response and is has a cool whistling turbo sound under WOT. People say it's a waste of money but those same people blow money on different axle backs or catbacks that don't do much performance wise either.

If the math works out, I say go for it since you got cams and LTs.

Engine can only pull so much air without the rest being forced in. If the TB is causing a restriction than by all means, a larger one should help but the stock TB is more than acceptable for a N/A engine, even some boosted apps.

I would pass. Throttle bodies don't really gain much on our engines until you are making some big numbers and the tb becomes a restriction.

I would go for it, it adds some looks under the hood, you will get more power, how much or how little might vary, but when else are you going to have an opportunity to save that much?

I wouldn't spend 350 on one, I'd look for a deal on a gt500 TB. Doesn't have the bling, but a lot less money.

07 gt, CMS cams, hurst, CAI/tuned, LT's, o/r h, m80's, FRPP mani, UDP, lowered with steeda 1.25/1.5, exedy mach 400/race flywheel, 1-pc DS, BMR upper/lowers, 4.10's, CHE brace with TL's, and a few other things that dont add up to much.

thats only 35$ less than what i plan on paying for it. and i can have it immediately with out the wait. just need a free caned tune from bama until i have enough for a real dyno tune.

Plus its BLING!! lol but for realz i am torn about it. already pushing 350 rwhp +- 10 depending on conditions and tune.

but also Mustang_aiden could keep it since it came with the car but could also use the cash for long tubes. (feel free to chime in buddy!)

If you like the looks and can't be talked out of it, then I guess you've made up your mind but there aren't any performance gains to be had at these power levels.

What's $35 less? Most used gt500 TBs go for 150-200 max. I paid 150 shipped for mine. You can also polish it up real nice, well you could polish the stocker as well. With the gt500 you get the cool whistle, at a fraction of the cost.
