GT500 strut mount ?

A few year ago I bought a set of GT500 strut mounts in anticipation of using them when I did my spring install. I found out the hard way they don't work with factory struts. So now that I'm in the market for some aftermarket struts, my question is do I need to buy 05-10 GT struts to use my GT500 mounts, or are aftermarket 11+ struts compatible with them? More specifically I'm looking at Koni Srt.

Just buy the ones for the 05-10s. Works just fine.

I thought it stated on one of the vendors that the konis were the only ones that were made for the 11-14... I was just wondering. I'll have to try to find where it said that again.

How many levels of adjustability is there with the strange struts? I don't see it listed on their site. I'm guessing you still need the gt500 strut mounts with these or no (as I see there are 2 different year offerings for these)?

Ok. Class is in session one more time. Please pay attention.

In order to use the GT 500 strut plates (like the OP was inquiring about) or any other strut plate designed for the 05-10 struts, you MUST use an 05-10 strut. The 11-14 struts have a thicker strut rod and will not mount properly. If you try to use an 11-14 strut plate (why would you- they are flimsy and aren't very good) on an 05-10 strut, it will be loose.

Yes, Koni offers an 11-14 specific strut. As do/will other manufactures. That is to accommodate future sales for people wanting to keep the factory spring and strut plate.

I just asked because on my last 5.0, I ran the ford racing fully adjustable suspension with the gt500 strut mounts and never could get rid of the clunking and couldn't help but think that it was due to the gt500 mounts. I checked and rechecked everything as well as having the recall done on the end links. What if I'm using the 11-14 struts? Would it still be fine to use the gt500 strut mounts (I'm assuming yes).

The clunking you heard was the struts. I had the non adjustable FRPP struts go bad on my blue car, and they made a clunking sound. When I put the stock struts in for a bit (before the accident), no more clunk.

And I'll say it again. You cannot use a strut from an 11-14 design with the GT500 mounts.

The 11-14 strut shaft is larger than the shaft hole (keep your mind out of the gutter) on the GT500 USM's. So NO 11-14 struts WILL NOT work with GT500 USMs.

ONLY 05-09 Struts will work with the GT500 USMs.

You seem dead set on using the GT500 USM, so buy Koni Yellows for the 05-09!!

I picked up some Koni str orange struts today(05-10) and got them installed with the GT500 mounts I had laying around. One of the factory mounts was blown. Only got to do a quick spin around the block, but felt good.

I hope so. Thing is in my situation, it did it from installation basically.

Question. Is the gt500 mount the best option? What about the steeda pn 555-8135?

They are probably not the "best" option, but they are very popular because of the price and performance you get out of them.

Not to beat a dead horse with this, but need some clarification. I ordered the Strange 10 way adjustable front struts for an 05-09 GT. Do I need the GT500 strut mounts for 05-09 or GT strut mounts for 05-09 or are they the same?? I called AM and they said the strut mount is universal for 05-14 GT and V6 and GT500. That's the only one they offer. Don't sound right so I didnt order. My assumption was the 05-09 Strange struts would fit the 05-09 GT500 strut mount. Can someone confirm and provide part number??

So, the GT500 strut mounts for 05-09 are whats needed and are compatible with a 10-14 GT with a 05-09 strut correct? This whole thing AM has for sale saying 05-14 GT, GT500 & V6 has me confused.

Yes, that's correct. I'm running 05-10 style struts and the GT500 mounts on my 2014 car. No ill effects.
