Sway Bars

Hey guys, what sway bar is everyone running? I need to replace mine and I'm thinking about going with either a steeda or BMR kit. Im not sure if I should get an adjustable kit or not. Does anyone have suggestions?

why are you getting rid of the rear one? wouldn't that hurt your launches?

Cause I'm gonna get the BMR Extreme Anti-Roll Bar. The one where you weld in the tabs. Gonna make it real stiff.

It does because without a rear sway bar, the axle tries to pivot and it unloads one wheel.

Lol, WUT? Suspension set up is vital For making good launches. Please explain how sway bars don't make a difference.

Front sway bar makes a difference in how you launch also. I just want to hear what urban myths there are about drag racing suspension set ups and why he thinks sway bars, front or rear, aren't going to make any difference.

yes and no, at my power level, the sway bar (stiff or loose) does not make a difference on my launches.

i have played around with these specs this past month at my local test and tune.

but im sure if you are pushing more than 500 to the wheels i can see it affecting your launches. but if your NA, like me, yeah the sway bars settings and or removal do not make a difference. if any at all it would be a .005 % difference in gains (ET, launch, etc.)

i got to this conclusion by averaging my runs with 9 (3 each) passes at different settings , with a control of stock sway bars. and a final 3 runs of running no front sway bar, front and rear strut bars. ran in average 12.880-13.10's. variable of temperature and gas in the tank.

so for low power level people like me, sway bars dont make a whole lot of difference. but you guys running FI. yeah i can see it make a world of difference.

but it makes getting to work in the mornings sooooo much fun with stiff suspension.

forgot to mention, i put my stock springs in the rear. not sure if that made a difference,(softer springs=better launches?) but it gives a nice stance.

any ways op, i would go with adjustable, to answer your question. i found it easier to drive in wet and dry conditions by loosening and stiffening the suspension through out the year.

I tend to disagree. Lower hp cars rely more on set up to make them quick as opposed to sheer hp. I have found it is more important to concentrate on dialing the car's supension in to give it every possible advantage.

And I've tried the stock springs on the rear and really like the stance. As far as launching I think they were too soft. You really don't want to squat the car in launch. In fact you really want the axle to push away from the car.

I ran the Strano Performance Parts bars which are Hellwigg bars. Adjustable front and rear. Front is 35mm, rear was 25mm. Had options for a 28mm rear bar as well but thought that was WAY too much bar... never really used the 25mm rear bar much and opted for a much higher rear roll center.

I run the BMR SB041 on the front of my car and the SB023 for the rear. I'm really happy with the performance of both of the bars, and they're reasonably priced too. The SB041 is a big bar and is most definitely overkill, but I wanted to have that extra bar rate just in case I decided to start doing auto-x or something like that in the future. They do have a smaller bar SB022 that will work well for a street car. Adjustable is great too, because you can set it softer or stiffer and see which set up you like better. I'm actually getting ready to set my front bar stiffer, the rear isn't adjustable.
