Wrinkle Black on intake manifold?

So I've been thinking about doing wrinkle black on my intake manifold, since I have the textured black FRPP valve covers.

Would that stuff work correctly on plastic? I know you're supposed to apply heat to make it wrinkle but is that a necessity? I mean I guess I could if I needed to.

You don.t need any heat, at least not any more than normal rattle can painting. I've never seen that before.

I don't see how it shouldn't work. Cleaning, prep and a good adhesion promoter should work well. It's not like it gets real hot.

What brand did you use?

I guess the stuff I used before is the VHT "high heat" wrinkle black (good to 350 degrees), apparently you have to heat it to get it to wrinkle. I'll have to try a different brand.

That is what I used. VHT high temp wrinkle. It was pretty cool in my garage when I did that. Probably a little cooler than it should have been for painting I just took a few more minutes between coats (3). I will check the instructions on the can but all I can remember was 3 coats in different directions.

It's weird shit. It goes on like regular paint, maybe a touch thicker, and it doesn't look like that until it is dry.

This is what it looked like when I pulled the masking off. It was not fully cured when I did this but it was dry to the touch. I walked away for about 15 minutes and when I came back it magically transformed.
