socialist A: I had to turn that shit off after 15 minutes because it was so cringey. I promise to never watch another car reveal again.

Reddit comment lol:

why are they rapping and doing the fortnite dance while revealing a electric suv

Because it's 2019 and nothing makes sense.
The 80s must be returning.

B: I would totally take that Grabber Blue one. Just not pay for it.

Still don't agree with the name. Was hoping they were hiding a two door coupe up their sleeve to go along with it. Lame.

That shit is whack!

Why would they ever use an existing name for a sports car / muscle car on something like this that has no similarities with the original?

I think Tesla is doing a much better job in this market.

Oh, and is this signaling the end for the Mustang as we know / love it?

socialist Ford vs. Ferrari was pretty good. Not super exciting or dramatic, but seeing a kind of historical look at what happened and seeing all those cars on screen with the nice loud speakers was pretty fun. Acting was all good and what not.

Unfortunately, they don't really show the development of the car itself which was kind of a big let down. But I'm guessing they had to make it palatable to all audiences instead of motorhead nerds so I suppose it makes sense to not spend too much time on it.

Guess I need to grab the book about it to get some more details.

Might be worth checking the movie out in theaters just for the sounds if you don't have some kickass surround sound system at home.

socialist I have a knot so deep in the muscle tissue in my back that I can't tell if it's just that or if I'm having a heart attack.

dr.gonzo! Move the entire population to mountains. Too many people? ehh get rid of em. Luge sled to work in the valley and public solar powered trane/trolly/skyshitbox back home after work. There. Now you can stop making ugly cars.

Are they not already on the same platform? I thought the transit vans have the some tonnage ratings as you go from the smallest to the largest, so just assumed they were built on the same platform.

Ain't no fucking way they're merging the F-150 with anything. I'm sure they're R&Ding a variety of power plants and waiting to see how the Rivian does to determine whether to start seriously considering making an electric drivetrain option. Well, at least for their midsize pickup if they keep it around.

Otherwise, until battery technology can give a 6000 lb 8'x8'x22' cube a range of 400+ miles with sub five minute charging times, ICE's ain't leaving the F-series.

Don't give them ideas. Damn assault helmets. Only professionals need those.

But he's a big name that hit a relative unknown, even if it was a QB, so I expect him to get a slap on the wrist. I'm sure the Patriots are lining up to sign him too.

Don't you besmirch the Futura like that.

I know exactly how that naming convention went, having worked with marketing.

Marketing: "Well we found that customers are very fond of the name 'Mustang' and it carries a lot of prestige. In addition 'Mach' comes off as very sporty, more so than our 'ST' designations. And last we found that 'E' comes off as very environmentally friendly, which is highly prized these days."

Executive: "Great! Let's slap them all together!"

Marketing: "I'll start on the promotional material."

Also I wonder if this isn't part of their broader strategy to streamline their product line. Ax everything and combine things down to an electric crossover, larger SUV, and eventually combine the F-series and Transit into one tradesman vehicle.

Like....it'd be totally cool to have as a daily driver (especially with that stoplight-to-stoplight sub-4 second 0-60) if I was rich enough to have two vehicles at $100k total. But yeah, why they gotta do dat?
