drthunder7 Thanks alot for all the help. The car acutally weighs 2930 with me in it. I think as far as the engine goes I'm going to do a home port job on the heads, and put some chevy valves in the heads with comp cams roller rockers. Then just throw a COMP CAMS 292 MAGNUM HYDRAULIC CAMSHAFT K-KIT in it with .518/.518 lift that should wake up the 351. Next I'm going to put some 9 inch welds on the back and see if she will hook, that is after I pay off the $489 ticket I got the first time I drove it 2 weeks ago.

Just got the Cobra II home, changed the oil and spark plugs charged the battery and it started right up. So I decided that I would take it for a spin. So drop it into first, pedal to the metal and I'm sideways clear over the hill and miss second, so I pull into the highschool to launch it again a cop pulls right in front of me and saw the whole thing. Busted with:

Expired tags
No liscence present
No Insurance
40 over the speed limit
No registration
Wrong way in a one way
Also had to get it towed 200 yards, dumbest thing I've ever seen
Measured the burn out marks for the court = 112 ft.
Just list a few charges
Cop was a dick head

Any ways thanks for the great input

He is full of shit. Assuming a (high)20% drivetrain loss the engine would be producing 390 horsepower at the flywheel. The car would have to weigh about 2400 pounds to run that fast. I'd like to see a Mustang that weighs 2400 pounds with driver. Mine didn't weigh that much with me in the seat even after I cut the old roll cage out.
my bad im miss typed. 11.88. sry didn't mean to make you all angry

ryans88gt dont forget you need:
a water pump
an oil pump
an iginition system (box, dist, coil, plugs, wires)
a decent carb
correct oil pan
new rod bolts, head bolts, other bolts
piston rings
bearings
balancer
gaskets
paint, assembly lube, silicone, etc...
hoses, radiator, etc...
fuel pressure regulator
headers
air filter
valve covers

Ooops did I spend more than $2000

That is how it happens, nobody ever bothers to remember how much it actually costs.

I think that all the componets from my engine are almost hitting 2,000 dollars see told you!
Good Luck to the 351w's

At that weight it is very possible to run 11s with only $2000 in the engine. I already laid out a parts list that will put him well into the 11s for $2000. 330 horsepower is all he needs with 2850 pounds to run 11.90s. 330hp can be done with stock heads. With a set of used aftermarket heads 400hp will not be a problem and the car should have no problem running 11.30s or so.

Yeah you are right I thought he was talkin about a 302.. ooppss

beheivjer mustang II's suck at actually hooking up and 351 are not that cheap to build up. its going to take close to 2grand and then the suspension will have to be modified greatly to actually use the power.

neverfastenough1 Ported heads and intake, cam and some headers. The rest on traction and presto- 11's. Might be a little more to it than that, but oh well, sounds good.

2g's still aint enough for the engine..
You don't need much motor for 11's in a light car. 285 whp is it. Thats not hard to do. A 351 with a good intake and an exhaust would get you there I bet....well under $2,000. See below.

1slo5.0 At 2850 pounds, it won't take much to run 11s.
