Mach Stang! all depends. If your engine is stock, then no not really. maybe 1-3hp. If you start doing stuff like cams, head work, intake, blah blah blah. Then yes. the more power your pushing through the motor, then technically the more air and pressure. the stock manifolds start to restrict air flow when power is increased, mainly because there is more air and pressure leaving the block. Improve the flow and you'll unlock the power thats getting trapped, which could be roughly 7-15 if your lucky. Longtubes and shorties will act the same. It more just comes down to sound preference and if you plan to turbo the car or not. (if you turbo it, then you need shorties)

toxzzic1 Is there a big performance gain going with long tubes? I am looking at getting a MMR longblock in the early part of next year. I thought about doing longtubes while the engine was out of the car.

Mach Stang! yeah I get to fight the longtubes this winter/spring. not looking forward to the amount of knuckles I bust.

toxzzic1 I had heard that the longtubes were a pain in ass. That is why I went with shorties. My issue will be my MAF setup. Here is a link to my build thread where I posted the info.

Mach Stang! Shorties will be easier. Longtubes are the bitch to install. And as said above. Bolts are fine but ALWAYS buy new gaskets. Better to be safe than sorry
November 27th, 2013 10:05 PM
toxzzic1 I will pick up some gaskets Friday morning. Thanks

You should be able to reuse your old bolts, but its always recommended to replace gaskets.

Snake556 Yeah, you're looking at an afternoon job. It's not too hard, just a pain
November 27th, 2013 08:32 PM
toxzzic1 GT. I will still be using the stock midpipe until I can get an x pipe.
November 27th, 2013 08:14 PM
Snake556 Headers you can do in an afternoon. It's kind of a pain however. Do you have a V6 or a GT?
November 27th, 2013 07:34 PM
toxzzic1 I like the forum so far. Glad to be on it. I will probably be posting a ton of dumb questions this weekend going to start installing parts. Anybody know how long it takes to install as set of BBK shortie headers?
November 27th, 2013 06:32 PM
Snake556 Yeah don't worry about us man, we're just screwing with you lol. MM is probably the best forum I've ever been on, and I have a long forum history lol

toxzzic1 Seems like a good crowd. I am glad everyone had some fun with. I am hoping to find some members near me. It would be cool to find some people to hang out with when I am not working or doing honey-do's for the wife.
