Same. It's a mess. I need to do the inside and out of my jeep. Tools everywhere in the garage.

Sup Chris, saw that you bumped this thread after a year of inactivity so you know I had to pop in and post. Been a while.

MikeyL Hey guys it’s been a long time since I’ve been here. Bought a Silverado 3500 a little while back and got a new set of wheels and tires. The wheels are polished aluminum. What would y’all recommend for cleaning and protecting? I have some diablo gel and SPNS in the garage. Would use Sonax Full Effect but I ran out cleaning the wheels I bought used for my mustang.

Jonathan Bliss Some light rubbing compound and a decent polish and wax job woke up this 14 year old paint.

MG2V Wash, clay bar, and application of Menzerna Power Lock.

Austin Anytime I've had paint work done they say like 90 days.

That's probably way too long for a rattle can job but after a few weeks you should be ok.

Darwin Car is 2006 and needing a full wash/clay bar /compound /polish and wax.
The stock rims were so bad I thought about redoing them so I did and because I have not driven the car for the last 9 months it has gathered a lot of dust which I put the car out in the rain while I painted the rims. Now the rims are done (almost) I will be going all out on the car to clean it up. I have a question.

I rattle canned the rims with clear and wet sanded them and compound followed by a polish. Was going to wax them after a wait period but wonder how long I should wait.

The paint is soft and only a couple days old.

ChrisJ I use it for a last step before LSP. It has very very very light cut but really needs an IPA wipedown after as it has fillers

What did you think of the chemical guys black light? I was wondering how that performed.

sikedsyko Finally got the time to do a full 2-stage on the Bimmer.

-Washed and Nanoskinned first
-Chemical Guys V36 Cutting Polish on an Uber Orange Medium Compounding pad
-Chemical Guys P40 Finishin Polish on a Uber Blue Final Polish Pad
-Menzerna Powerlock on an Uber Grey Sealant Pad
-Basic cleanup of the wheels with CG Extreme Slick Quick Detailer and some Meguiars Spray wax
-Cleaned up all the black trim with Mother's Back to Black. Also put a layer over most of the engine bay plastic and in the wheel wells.
-Meguiar's Interior Quik Detailer for the whole interior, then put some Lexol Leather Conditioner on the leather.

I really wish I had something with a little more cut for the first stage. There's some fairly deep marring on the rear decklid and some scratches on the passenger fender/door that I wasn't able to pull out with the V36/Orange combo even with a long work time and a couple of passes. Menzerna FG400 and an Uber Yellow pad probably would have done the trick, but I have neither of them these days.

I did however manage to clean up some of the piss poor touch up paint that someone had applied in the past. They used a single stage touchup paint and just globbed it on. I cut the ridges way down and it looks 10x better.

Haha. It was a simple clean up and LSP. Nothing major. And I was in a crunch for time as always.

I plan on doing some major detail work to my mk4 golf tdi and my Jeep in the next few months. I'll try to post more pics.

ModdedMach I'm actually thinking about offloading some products I don't use alot. I've done more details lately but I've got some bottles that i just don't really use ever.

Oh and I'll leave this here. For the true mustang guys who will appreciate the rarety. Just a simple clean up, little wheel polish work and SPNS for protection. This thing has the original houndstooth recaro halo seats from 1979. Good stuff. Oh and it's got a mod motor swap with a vortec lol
