Trump makes the people in Heartland America feel like we matter again. That's going to continue to outweigh everything else.

I have no idea what you're saying here.

Since when did y’all ever really stop mattering? That has really has what has been peddled to some people’s ears for quite some time. They are taking your jobs, your position, they don’t deserve that, rapist are flooding the gates/borders. We need to allow immigrants from better countries like Norway not these shithole countries where these “other” people come from. The easy demonization of certain representatives and some just jump in and pile on even with tired old attacks like go back to your country no dog whistling there more like bull horn.

So yeah he has always before he became a candidate pandered to a certain type of crowd and seemingly gave them a voice and spoke their language. But those voices were never muted socially or politically even systematically those voices just have a front man now that makes it seem as if those voices were muted hell like he even speaks for them. He just seen the heatwave during the Obama years of Take our Country back and tapped deep into that as if the county went somewhere taken over by some foreign power.

So yeah he brewed up this stew starting long ago with that Birther crap he stayed in the news be it in person or voice almost daily used the hell out of ALL of them but now they are fake and the enemy of the ppl huh how about that smh.. Brewed up this MAGA stew to this crowd who felt they needed to take their country back, something had to change, or they didn’t matter anymore especially after the previous administration they felt the need for a drastic change Donald fucking Trump.

I thought it was kinda clear what I said in that post but someone in the military told me that quite a few ppl will not always catch on to metaphorical statements and sarcastic type statements and we use to have to practice breaking things down to Barney level and repeating it in various ways so everyone gets the BOI. Hell listening to the President speak sometimes yeah he has the listeners at Barney level.

Hopefully what I was saying is somewhat understood now if not I can say it in various ways to the grind down as if you are speaking to a crowd of children then that should eliminate any and all confusion but I doubt that option will have to be taken. Hopefully we’re tracking now! Hopefully we’re tracking Bigly.

It's a 120 hour temporary cease fire allowing the Kurds to retreat and cede the territory back to Turkey.

It's literally giving Turkey exactly what they want, the only difference is that Turkey is "nice enough" to stop shelling the shit out of people for a couple days before they start up again and get what they wanted from the get-go anyway.

Apparently they're not even honoring the agreement anyway. So successful!

It's not that Trump supporters (please note my distinction here, Trump supporters are merely a subset of Trump voters) necessarily lack principles, it's that they massage and twist them into the complete opposite of what they were the day before in order to fabricate a reality that has been dictated to them by the authoritarian currently sitting in the oval office.

law & order

family values

integrity

fuckin freedom of speech (the press)

anti-authoritarianism

All of them are complete horseshit when it comes to Trump supporters.

I appreciate the people that vote for him because "fuck you, I got mine" or "I hate taxes and don't want my guns taken away". At least those people are being honest.

Acting like Trump supporters give any shits about true, traditional conservative values is just straight up horseshit. They're willing to bend their viewpoints in order to win, and literally nothing else matters. Only winning, no matter the cost. It's a sport to Trump supporters. No integrity and no principles whatsoever. It's nothing more than payback for the country putting Obama into office and the perceived slights he personally leveled against them as laid out by the Tea Party and the arm of the media that touts the modern GOP line.

Trump supporters are intrinsically wired to value established hierarchy. Trump is their king, and they're ready to fall in line, while clamoring on to a little twig hanging off a cliff labeled "small government". It's despicable, really, and it's so, so disappointing that so many of my countrymen lack the mental fortitude to have any sense of self-awareness whatsoever.

But we're in an era where anti-intellectualism is running rampant across the western world, likely fueled by a country hellbent on causing chaos. Not much I can do but vote, and I most certainly will.

T-Lee: With all due respect to your affinity for sarcasm and metaphorical encryption, your argument is still largely unintelligible. I'd be happy to respond, but I can't untangle such a knot of irrational babble. I think you're describing Donald Trump as some kind of a cult-leader, and his followers as hypnotized morons, but that's about all I get.

Soc: I follow your response, but I perceive most of your statements with complete ideological inversion. You make some of the same charges I might (fabricating reality, bending viewpoints, lack of integrity, lack of mental fortitude, causing chaos, authoritarian control, etc.), but you do it in perfect mirror reverse (of my beliefs). Of course, on my side, I'm right and you're a loon – on your side, you're right and I'm the loon.

Is there nothing we can all agree on? How about bacon? Everybody love bacon at least?

I can break it down to a few semi made up words and make my point by talking loudly then pausing and just keep on repeating it to the point where it almost seems like it’s running on a loop. Surely speaking in that manner in that type of language will come across very clear or so it seems. Then there is option 2 I can clip my fingernails and toenails while watching shows on the DVR way past midnight.

Yeah after seeing how points fly over some heads here in many cases intentionally option #2 sounds like a more productive way to use my time to be completely honest. The first one would be a complete waste like I already knew from the start but anyone without their head up their ass can see the meaning within it so the slightest bit of confusion on your end comes as no surprise to me. Later!

.

When one takes a step back from the b.s. and looks at this it’s all beyond jacked up. It’s abandonment of one of our allies and our president stated to let them fight it out for a bit I mean what the hell. This isn’t some street beat situation where they approach it like “well these ppl have been fighting for a long time let them take themselves out a bit and then we will step in” that’s like ethnic cleansing b.s. you hear that type of crap about gangs.

Idk man are some ppl really like really okay with what this dude is doing I see some politicians have gotten fed up bc they always have known it was ridiculous for quite some time with some of the political and social crap but they know this is crossing the line.

Is his base really fine with some of this well it’s them not us allies or not barbaric crap?! Quite a few of them have made it clear if they are fine or not with the rest of the stuff that comes along with him but man. Imo we are making history with this administration in various ways right now. It’s just crazy!

Okay ... just to follow-up:

You can break it down?
You can repeat your points on a loop?
You can clip your toenails and watch DVR?

Again, no disrespect, but I don't think your "points" are flying over any heads. I just don't think you're making any points. What the hell are you talking about?

What's next? Yo Mama Snaps?

To be honest, I think I understand the frustration. Trump succeeds by employing a universal Pee-wee Herman strategy ...

"I know you are, but what am I?"
"I know you are, but what am I?"
"I know you are, but what am I?"

... and it drives his opponents absolutely insane! He isn't presidential. He isn't stately. He isn't a gentleman. He isn't even so articulate. But none of that is required to be a good U.S. President.

I don't care about his antics. I care about policy - that's all, and Trump's policies have been sensibly conservative; I like them. I like the tax-cuts. I like the deregulation. I like the repeal of the individual mandate. I like that we're securing the border. I like that we're rebuilding the military. And I REALLY like that we've added some solid conservatives to the Supreme Court and replaced activist judges in the lower courts. I like the low unemployment rate. I like common-sense energy policies. I like a strong economy and stock market, etc. Shouldn't we all?

In my view, we're doing some things that actually matter now. You might see chaos, but I think we're decidedly on-task. Think about it. In the last few years, we haven't had to endure serious debate about which bathroom to use, which color of life matters, or which breed of cattle produces the most noxious farts.

It really doesn't matter to me if the very bad bad orange man is the one doing the job ... at least the job is getting done. If Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio had won and governed similarly, I would support them just the same. And regardless of whether Trump's theatrics are a brilliant distraction campaign or just buffoonery, the things I care about are being accomplished. I'm good with that.

I don't really see why that makes me a diarrhea sucking fool, but maybe I don't understand. Feel free to straighten me out ...

I guess you are too young to remember Vietnam, the draft and the protests. One of my best friends got his draft notice under the old draft board system (before the lottery). He joined the Army for three years instead of being drafted for two so he could get a better career field. I enlisted in the Air Force in May 1969 to avoid being drafted. At the time war protests were common. In 1970 we were ordered not to wear our uniforms when traveling in the United States because it wasn’t safe. I spent all of 1971 in Southeast Asia. In 1972 Hanoi Jane (Fonda) went to North Vietnam and was pictured on an anti-aircraft gun that was used to shoot our planes down. Because of continued protests Nixon pulled us out in 1973. By 1975 the North had completely defeated the South.

And which ally are we supposed to be supporting? The Kurds are a people without a state. They are spread through several countries. There is no Kurdistan. Turkey is a NATO ally. It’s bombing Syria. A known US enemy. That part of the world is extremely complicated. They have been fighting over a thousand years. Our presence is not going to stop that. But it does make one sick to the stomach to see one ally fighting another ally.

You are correct. It is beyond jacked up. And I have absolutely no idea what Trump was talking about when he said let them fight for a while. But I need to ask, do you really think we would go to war with our NATO ally? If we split the alliance and made members pick sides would they all pick ours? Or will be end up fighting other allies as well? That is pretty much the definition of a no win situation. Pretty much like Vietnam where we drew a line and refused to cross it but our enemy crossed it at will.

I think the proper question would be "do you really think Turkey would go to war with the United States?"

(well, I guess maybe since we allowed them to beat the shit out of American citizens in Washington, DC without any consequence whatsoever while Trump repeatedly praises Erdogan, another dictator)

By the way, Trump ain't bringing nobody home. They're just redeploying them to Iraq.

I would have thought that your sensibilities would have at least held to a military standard of leave no friend behind but I guess not....

The area that has now been invaded by Turkey was secured through many Kurdish lives and American resources only to be given up and for what? We got nothing out of it and Putin, Assad and Erdogan got everything. How sad to have to witness many years of work go up in smoke with a single, impulsive phone call.
