8.8 Swap help

Alright well i just picked up a 8.8 from a 2003 gt for 200 bucks. Ima tear it down and rebuild the entire thing. It does not come with rotors or brakes calipers. question is can i simply reuse my calipers/rotors/brackets etc? The guy i bought it from said gt calipers were different and i would need gt rear calipers for the swap. i could of sworn they were the same as the sixxers.

gt calipers are exactly the same as the v6 ones

even the coba ones are the same, they just use a different bracket and rotor

^mocked up (already taken the thing apart)

will be getting rid of the tlok and will replace it with an Eaton Detroit Truetrac and FRPP 4.10s and new bearings, seals, etc

Okay 2nd question, should i retain the stock gt 28 spline axles or upgrade to 31? car may go f/i later but i still dont know. In all likelihood it may stay as the DD for the immediate future.

Only if you have the money... throwing in 4.10 gears will make the resale value drop... only because most guys who got 31 spline are FI for high power and 4.10 is typically to high for them.

eh i doupt il ever sell this damn thing. poured way too much money into it. It will probably end up a project car later down the road. May change my mind later down the road to get 3.73s instead. This thing wont be going into the car until near the end of summer or mid fall

might as well get the tubes welded and just get hardened 28 spline axles instead of the stock ones.

I poured 7k+ in 9 months and in month 11 I sold the car.

But yea, I would say, go with lower gears in your upgrading the splines.

No need for the detroit true track or 31 spline stuff unless you plan on making some serious power at some point

8.8 t loks are alright with the cobra clutches but still not as good as an auburn or eaton.
