Difference between 99-00 and 01-04 long tubes?

I have a 2000 v6 auto and a guy is selling some 2001-2004 ceramic long tubes on craig for pretty cheap. AM says that they are different but I can't figure out what could be the difference. Also can I install these on my car with an auto trans without doing anything crazy like unbolting the engine or trans? I would like to do it myself. Thanks for the replies guys.

The 99-00 have a bung on the drivers side for air injection. 01-04 do not.
And I got my macs in with the auto without doing anything crazy.

Difference is on the 01-04's there are no air injection ports. See the nubs protruding from the first primary? That's the injection port:

As far as installation goes - it could be a slight pain it could not. I had to unbolt part of my steering linkage, grind a small bit off the one corner on both motor mounts, and retap 3 or 4 bolt holes in the heads. Everything is held down with those Stage 8 locking bolts.

Also -what are you doing for a midpipe? O/R H, Prochamber, or custom?

Same thing I have now. Sounds good considering it's a V6. Rasp comes on around the 3K mark and past that it's hard to describe the sound.

More government mandated and tree hugger approved emmisons stuff. They're meant to force outside air into the exhaust to finish burning off the fuel that didn't burn completely. As to why it was removed it in the later years I don't know.

What plugs ?
Stock 99-00 should have an egr bung and an air injection bung. They're in the passenger side and drivers side respectively.
01-04 only has the egr bung.

The air injection bung. My 2000 doesn't have one. Somewhere along the line the engine was swapped out, maybe for an 01-03 one? But it doesnt have an IMRC valve.

not necessarily. if it is a late 2000 it may not have the air injection bung. easiest way to tell if you have an 01-04 motor is if it has a counterweight on the crank, 99-00 are externally balanced.
01-04 are internal and have a balance shaft in the block.

plus slow arent the spark plug wire set up different for 99/00 and 01-04. im thinking if you have 3 short and 3 long wires its the 99/00 and 6 same length you have the 01-04.

i actually had to use that info on a mechanic trying to finish my work after my hand got wedged inbetween passanger side of the motor and the engine bay....

Nope. I've got an '02 and I had 3 shorties for the drivers side and 3 long ones for the passenger.
