V6 and Gt Differences

Well i'm planning on buying either the V6 2011+ or GT. Just wanted to know the differences other than the obvious power difference.

If i buy a 6, i want it eating 5.0's. . .

Extreme need of them Gen V Tails for my New Edge!

If you have the opportunity to buy a 5.0, take it. You'll be trailing quite a bit in a 3.7 from the get go. The power and potential just isn't there like it is with the 5.0.. Not a criticism, just a fact. My car doesn't even "eat" 5.0's and I have a whole lot more power and weigh less than a new v6. If performance is what you're really after. But to answer your question. I think the V6's got the 8.8 in the 2011+ generation.. So really only difference is the engine. Everything else depends on how the car is optioned as far as I know. A lot of the options you get with GT's can be had on V6's, Premium package, Performance package. etc. etc. V6's are alot cooler than they used to be... Just still not as fast as the GT..

A procharger out of the box will get 410 - 430 to the rear wheels, which will beat a mildly modded 2011 - 2014 V8 mustang. If you are looking for way more HP and torque, you'll need to pull the engine and replace all of the cast parts or powder forged parts, and possibly the crank, if you want to bore and stroke the engine. Get ready to wait for years to get parts made, or get them from MMC, and risk breakage. As far as I know, most of the rebuilt 3.7L engines have not made it past 1000 miles. Mine is the exception, but I've had the engine and car at the builders longer than I've had possession of it in my garage. Soon, I'll know if we are seeing 700HP+ at the rear wheels or greater. The list of mods is really long, but I'm aiming higher than a GT.

You're not going to eat a 5.0 without nitrous or boost.

That being said, you can make a 3.7 faster than a 5.0 without nitrous or boost - you just won't drag the 5.0.

Fastest N/A 3.7 ran 12.26 in the 1/4, so it's definitely possible, just not easy.

If your a track & autoX driver the 3.7 Cyclone motor is great for weight distribution and the thrill of the twisty's keep me in my Cyclone.

Everyone's listed some pretty great responses, I'll keep it short.

If you can afford the V8 get it, if power is what you want (sounds like it) then go v8 you'll have more growing room on stock internals then the v6 will ever have (I hear they max around 450WHP)
but if pricing is determining your decision then v6 is a great choice, cheaper insurance better mpg, and more side money to mod.

If your only concern is 1/4 mile speed, get a GT. I have a V6 and it will keep up with any stock GT on a road course like Sebring. They pull away on the straights but I always catch them thru the turns. Lighter weight and better suspension even the score.
