ROTY 2014: Aceswild02

Ride of the year is the pinnacle award here at Modded Mustangs. The victor is selected by the members so the award is chosen by the people for the people. There is only one person a year who gets to enjoy this prestigious title and the running is always pretty tight. There are many Mustang worthy but popular vote as well as performance, handling, and looks all play a vital role in determining the annual recipient.

Nothing quite as exciting as locking heels with an old school numbers matching 289 CID classic Mustang. The valve train is being harassed by some Comp Cams Mutha Thumpr bump sticks laying between  forged flat top pistons. A finely matched combination of ported and polished heads and piston dish together making a healthy compression ratio of 10:1.

Putting all this power into motion is a nice combination of lowering springs for the front and leaf springs for the rear, dropping the center of gravity about 3.5”.  This improves the front end geometry, steering, and handling and offers a more aggressive stance. This new found pose was supported by a full set of Bilstein shocks on all four corners.

With a little bit of fender rolling, the pony was able to support some American Racing VN427 wheels and wrapped with BFG g/force T/A KDWs. This combination allowed for a balanced mix of drag strip in the straight roads and circle track like handling on the curves. One might ask well how do you stop all of that greatness? Well the answer was simple, a nicely matched set of 13″ cobra brakes and adapter brackets to pull it all together.

Congratulations to Aceswild02 on becoming’s 2014 Ride of the Year, we look forward to seeing what new projects might be in your future.
