I took out my steering linkage for my headers install recently and after putting everything back together there is a bit of a play in the steering wheel.

It's very slight to the left and right and the wheels don't move. I thought it could have been the ECU reset since I had to disconnect the battery for the install so I changed my steering mode to "sport' and it did stiffen up the steering wheel but that little bit of play is still there.

I tried looking this up and it was on older cars and most people ended up just replacing the linkage. The thing is my car is not old and I know they are not worn out.

I even got my car checked out at a shop and everything is tight...what could it be?

You didn't turn the wheel or linkage after you disconnected them did you?

Well I had to turn in order to "fit" the linkage. Basically what happened was my friend was under the car and he had me move the linkage/steering wheel so he can put it back together.

Btw, I posted this on 2011+ section.
