I wanted to know if the 1969-1979 Mustang fastbacks had the same chassis as the 1971-1973 mustang fastback?

Which leads me to my other question. If they are or are not the same chassis can the parts still be swapped between each other?

For ex. If there is a rack and pinion setup for a 1969-1970 mustang can that be used on the 1971-1973?

Both seem to have the big body chassis setup but different shape bodies on top.

the 71-73s are longer and wider than the 69-70s. and weigh more too. but i have no idea if parts are compatable between the two.

Welcome to MM Forums...

The 1965 to 1970 are the same chassis

The 1971 to 1973 is all different.

The 1971 to 73 didnt need a front end fix,

It has the good saganaw power steering box that they use to today on a lot of cars.

Also the the 1971 to 73 has the big welded in crossmember.

Also the shock towers are far enough apart to fit a 429 & 460 in it.

What is the problem you are trying to fix?
