ok this guy is selling his red 1996 mustang gt for 5K.

98,000 miles about

this is what it has:
-mach 460 sound system w/ new head unit
-CD player with bluetooth and ipod ports
-full exhaust system
-Bilistenen cobra wheels
-cobra brakes and rotors
-cold air intake
-aluminum intake manifold
-brand new interior (few years old)
-new tires w/ less than 5k miles on them
-new spark plugs and wires
-full synthetic oil change

is it worth it? it seems low to me, but i dunno, maybe its high? how much should i offer him? what other questions should i ask him when testing it? what should i look for? what should i check on the car?

COMMENTS AND OPINIONS PLEASE!!!! :):) lemme know.....

Yeah I knew theres a HP difference, but it's hard to find a video that compares stock exhaust mani+ o/r H pipe + Flowmasters to LT + all the other stuff..
just search on youtube, usually they say in the description what they have, and just try different clips

Well accualy it should be around 260 or so now. My car is Full Npi.
You have to be making more then what you claim.. If you are running a full PI swap motor then it is rated at 260hp and 6psi which in theory you get 10hp per pound of boost then here is a formula you can use with a calculator to get pretty close to your RWHP..

260(PI motor) x .15(15% power loss through drive train) = 39

260 - 39 = 221

60(hp from boost) x .15(drivetrain loss) = 9

60 - 9 = 51

221 + 51 = 272RWHP

I am sure you have some bolt-ons and a tune to help you out so you must be close to 280whp.. If you find a whole in my logic then please correct me.

Here is a link to a dyno that reads 273whp and this guy only has PI intake and custom cam.. You have more then you know I am sure of it..

But i just said i was full Npi.... not Pi.

So pretty much a stock motor(with a bolt on or 2) with a blower. I have a thread entirely of my being pissed at my low numbers lol..

On my last tune I made 227rwhp and 298rwtq
Kind funny i made as much torque as that guy you posted in that link. But I had 10psi of backpressure through my exhaust so i had to iron that out to get some real numbers. Hopefully by the end of this week il post my new numbers.

PI intake and a set of blower cams and you would be set.. keep the NPI heads because you can use a more aggressive cam with them and run more boost because they give less compression. Full exhaust of course.. :D
Well i have everything but the headers because I really just dont feel like dealing with them.

I think after I get my tune fixed im just going for visual mods. Maybe a 50 shot of n20 but thats if im feeling like a bad ass.
don't bother with the PI Heads--- they really don't gain much over the npi.

Just put on the PI intake and PI cams, the intake would REALLLLLLY waken up your car..the npi intake is sooo restrictive.

BTW mr. purple car-- you have auto or manual? Just wondering...most npi autos stock run 15.8 in the 1/4 mile and run 160 ( auto)- 180 ( manual) rwhp stock. So the person before was correct. (215 hp at the crank)

With a Torque converter and swapping out the pully for 9lbs of boost, retune- ill be running low 12's all day long. NPI heads just have a bad rap.
G
PI cams are not the answer you need a custom grind to bring out the real power of the NPI heads because the exhaust needs to be lower then the intake and it is ass opposite on the PI heads.. See my thread on this matter.

Nuh uh!!! My cars full npi/at and I ran a 14.8. Just saying. And I'm sure I can get better than that if I had better tires and more practice. That was my first and [so far] only time at the track...

If you get rid of those ricer headlights you would be faster.. :p
:p Nah they're one piece. Makes em more aerodynamic and all, yo!

If your car is a 5spd then yes i can see the high 14' 1/4 mile time

Thats great for the cams but im sure this young guy doesn't have the 600 bucks to put in these cams...plus another tune.

If he was having an xpipe installed,he will need the cams installed as well. more $$

I look from a $$$ perspective. PI cams you can get off a junk yard PI motor, preferably the romeo cams, and they still will add an extra 15rwhp without having to tune the car or hope it will idle right...the guy says himself

"You will need a tune to get it to idle, but a good tuner can make the Stage 1 sound stock. Otherwise its a rough idle..".
..but a tune can't fix everything. The car will still idle rough.. and on a DD thats a huuuge no for me. I had enough of that in the past...and for what..? an extra 10-15 rwhp? no thanks!!

Also congrats on that high 14 with street tires/ auto. IF you were truly 100% stock but i do not believe it. With my PI cams, intake, full exhaust, gears my car was only managing high 14's. You must have a factory beast.

Maybe...I dunno. I do have the time slip around here somewhere, but the car AFAIK is bone stock. I took the air silencer off right when I bought it but that's all I've ever done to it.
I bought my car down here in southern florida for $3500. It is a 96 GT with H pipe and flowmaster cat back, and cobra R wheels with new tires. Mine had all AC parts on new, compressor, clutch, dryer, and lines. That added to the value for me, but I feel like I got a good deal.

It has over 100k miles, but not by much.
3500 is a good deal.

but yea im staying Full NPI.

My tuning shop said they would fix my tune for FREE. Which makes me so happy to hear. So once the tune is taken care of then the motor will be complete! Its not the fastest thing but I enjoy it.
Lethalperformance.com has some nice cams designed for use specificaly with NPI heads. They are no cheaper than any other cam, but they solve your whole p.i. cam / idle/tune problem.
Lol id rather keep her were she is. Cams will destroy my MPG's even more. And so far it cost me $15 to get to work and back every day...
