I noticed when i borrowed my dads truck this weekend that the odometer does not always light up. i tapped on the plastic cover over the gauges an sometimes it would come on, other times it would not. what could cause this. does he need to just get a new gauge cluster or is it a wiring issue?

well, if it is just the odometer and nothing else that is having the problems lighting up, i would think that it would just be a wiring issue. imo

Its the Cluster. alot of them do it, eventually you will loose it all together.
