Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can help me out. I have never had to mess with anything related to the power steering before. I have an older 2002 F250 with the 5.4 V8 gas engine. I have been noticing lately that when i turn there is a noticeable whine coming from the front of the truck. Even if i sit still and turn the wheel i can hear the whining sound. There are no noticeable issues with steering or anything else but i feel that it could be a sign that it may be time to swap out the power steering pump soon? It is an older truck but it does only have 76k miles on it.

Any ideas on a possible diagnosis? other ways i could tell if it needs changed? is it normal?

Thanks in advance for any advice?

Thanks for the help guys. I may just go ahead and change out the fluid. it wouldn't hurt anything I guess. Hopefully that will make it go away.
