I just bought a 2003 gt mustang. It has 96k on it. It's automatic. Not sure what it's been through its life but all of a sudden it's slipping when it shifts from 3rd to 4th and from 4th to 5th. And it does take a little while to shift into drive or reverse which is what I've heard a bad shift solenoid can do. Anyone have any ideas?! There's no flakes in the tranny oil and the oil looks decent. Could it be the solenoid? Or is it a bad tranny?? Thanks guys

What kind of transmission is in that thing? stock automatics has 3 gears and an overdrive for a total of 4 gears.

If its slipping going into 4th/OD, your OD is probably toasted. Do you go WOT with OD on or off?

The fluid level was perfect. I haven't even floored the car yet because I'm worried about the tranny. And yes it did have a slight smell to it
