--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I've got two things wrokin' against me here...
1. I'm a big nerd and I love seeing the numbers (results)
2. I am bored as hell at work and can't do **** about it

I have compiled a list comparing 3.27 vs 3.73 vs 4.10 gears and showing what your speed is at various RPM's. Not sure if anyone is really gonna care about the info I have provided but I thought a few people might want to compare this info and it might help them decide on what gears to go with (maybe?). Cuz like I said I like seeing things in numbers. The following information is for a stock 2004 GT with stock size rims and tires (245/45/17) and the TR-3650 tranny.

------------------------------------3.27's--------------3.73's------------4.10's

rpm @ 40 MPH in 4th gear---{1,711-------------1,952--------------2,146

Ok, now that I'm finished you can go ahead and ridicule me for being a nerd and having way too much time on my hands. For those of you who choose not to do so, I hope you enjoy the information that I have provided.

Great post, but you aren't done! The Cobra and Mach 1 came with 3.55 gears...the Mach used the 3650 and the Cobra had a 6 speed. Where are those numbers? Come on, you have a couple more hours!
Yeah *sigh*... I'm workin' on it... :D

what would all that be for an automatic
You know I would love to do automatics too, but I can't seem to find the gear ratios for the autos. If someone can give me this info I would gladly make a write up for autos.

these are gear ratios for a 1999 mustang Transmission
Gear Ratios 5-Speed Manual 4-Speed Automatic
1st Gear=============3.35=========2.84
2nd Gear=============1.99=========1.56
3rd Gear=============1.33=========1.00
4th Gear=============1.00=========0.70
5th Gear=============0.68
Reverse Gear=========3.15=========2.32
Axle Ratio===========3.27:1=======3.27:1

would some one do the same calculations (3.27, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10) for these two transmissions?

Here you lazy bum. Jk, I ain't figuring that stuff out! Here is a link to the calculators. Just remember, when you put the gear in you have to multiply the tranny gear ratio by the rear ratio. For instance, first ger on the manual tranny with a 4.10 rear, you would put 13.375 in the gear ratio spot. In 4th on the manual you would just use 4.10.

OK so according to this my car already has 3.73's....guess the previous owner did it but never documented it. I was planning on getting 4.10s but you think I should skip it and do cams now or what?
You won't see a significant gain with one gear size. Not enough that I personally would spend the money or take the time to go from 3.73 to 4.10. Don't know what your car has already, but maybe you should start your own thread to try to get some more answers.

and what i posted was transmission and rear end stock info for a 1999 mustang. which uses t5/t45 trans and 4r70 (idk if thats the right call# and such) auto trans.
