3.73 Vs 4.10's

Sorry to sign up and start asking so many questions, but I am planning on some mods next year, and wanted to make sure to get the right stuff.

I have a 5 speed, looking at getting some gears. I had a 96 V6 and I put 3.73's in it, was a huge difference. I have people telling me to go 3.73 or the 4.10 route.

Few questions I have are, what is going to be the top speed for both 3.73 and 4.10's? Dont do a lot of highway driving, but on occasion I do some.

One downside I see people talk about, is the take off's for 4.10's is hard due to the wheel spin.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Try the search bottom then see if you still have questions. Since your new the search bottom will help you a lot man! IMO 4:10s
top speed and gas milage wont very so much If you want to go FI in the future, I would stay away from the 4.10's unless it's an auto. I would stay between 3.73 and 3.90
I have no plans for FI. So are you still suggesting 3.73 over 4.10?
idk 4:10s and FI with a stick is doinable..there are a few guys doing that on the forums here.
if your not going FI ever then 4:10s anyday
4.56's
haha I almost said 4:30s
I would go 4.10s. I went from 3.31s(stock) in my 06 GT to 3.73s and loved the increase in performance. I do ALOT of highway driving, 20miles one way out for college, 2-3 times a week. My new job is 13miles highway 1 way fri-sunday. 3.73s have killed me because i have a heavy foot =) and drive really fast.

If i could do it all over again, i would say **** it and go 4.10s regardless. I can't imagine the insane acceleration you get from these things! I think maybe in a year or two i will swap them out again for the FRPP 4.10s..

PS: Stay away from Motive, go for ONLY FRPP..
yah, 4.10's are good. It also depends on what kind of racing you do circuit or strip.

??? I have had motives for the last 5 years and love them? There isnt anything wrong with motive's
Yea, I did FRPP on my V6.

The plan is to get the FRPP 4.10's and rebuild kit as well for the Rearend. I am at 77k miles. Figured it wouldnt hurt.

Also for the rearend oil, Amsoil or Royal Purple?
if you don't plan to run a supercharger later 410 otherwise 373 cause if you want to run a blower in the future 410 would have you shifting out of 1st gear almost as soon as you take off. i wanted to go with a blower but i think i am gonna save for some heads and cams instead since i have the 410 already.

FRPP gears is now made by motive.

Amsoil makes the best oil.

If you do alot of highway driving and high rpms don't bother you and you can control your right then you'll really enjoy the 4.10's.

But if you like to cruise at 75+ then you might wanna consider 3.73's or 3.90's.

The top speed is irrelavant as you don't have the power required to run out 5th gear anyways.

For your application I would recommend 4.10's if it's not a Daily driver and it's just for fun you could even do 4.30's.

****, really?! When did this happen? I know they had the FRPP version made here and then the FRPP/Motive version made in Italy or someshit and those were the ones giving bad whines and not fitting in right..

I am sad to here this, i guess i will stick with my 3.73s then because i will not put a motive gear in my car. Thanks for info! I had no idea.
OP-check this link out http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forum...vs-4-10-took-couple-hrs-2-complete-enjoy.html

I have 4:10s and almost wish I would've gone with 4:30s.. those might be in the plans for the future

Motive is only bad if installed wrong. We have been installing motive gears for well over 10 years and never had a problem with them at all. Its all in the install
