My gears give off a little whine when I let off the throttle but it doesnt bother me and it hurt anything on the car. Just changd the dif fluid and no signs of improper wear or metal shavings. They have been in there for years now. I dont know why people have an issue with the slightest gear whine.

I've been reading alot of input everyone has on gearing, I'm leaning to 410's as i probably will not put an F/I system on my car. I have a 2000 GT with the normal bolt on's 75mm Accufab t/b, 85mm BBK CAI, Pro 5.0 short throw, Borla, 275/35 18's. I want a gear that a rice burner wont kick my ass light to light, i also want to make sure rolling i still have top end which realistically 120-130 with 3:27's, is what i've hit normally on the highway. does any with same mods experienced the 410 's flatting out at that speed. if not my mind is made up. Thanks in advance for any input.:D

with 4.10's @ 6200 rpms your looking at 112 in 5 speed. So if you wanna hit 130 you sill have to shift into 5th

With 3.73's @ 6200 rpms it's 123.

Here's the deal you have to decide where you want to be the fastest.
In a 1/4 mile the 4.10's will be faster.

But 3.73's will be faster to 123.

After that your in 5th and your screwed with either gear.

3.55's are the only gear that will reach 130 which will be right @6250 in 4th.

Let me say this if your racing a car worth racing and you shift into 5th and it's still competitve YOU WILL GET WALKED.

(Note: all of these calc's were done with the 275-35-18 tire size. which is actually a smaller tire than the stock 245-45-18's)

I appreciate the calculations. I have about a month to decide. The car is not a daily driver... just playing with it right now. I'm not looking at drag racing it, more of a cruiser and I like to know it has some pop if i need it out on the streets. Maybe 373's are more what i'm looking for...decisions decisions.

well, if it's not your daily then 4:10 or 4:30 are you best bet. that's if you really want to feel the "pop" when you get on it.
