I have an 94" 2.3l Ranger that just rolled over 300K. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what things i need to look for or check to keep it running for at least a few more years. Heres some on the past things i have done to it. Also it any one has any ideas for get some more power out of it.

Oil Change/Air Filter/Shocks at 300K
Alternator Spring 2011
Starter/Relay Fall 2010
Plug/Wires at Summer 2010
Water Pump/Timing Chain/ Fall 2009

Thats really it on the major things ive done besides normal oil changes.

Thanks

It looks like you got the basics covered. As far as getting more power out of it I personally think you should just toss a set of gears in it. 300k is a lot of miles to start adding go fast parts.

You still have a lot of life left in it as long as you maintain it properly.

My 95 mustang gt has over 340,000 miles on it.
My buddies old for van has well over 600,000.
His mom's focus has 215,000~ miles.
They used to have an old escort that clocked well over 650,000 before it finally died.

Thanks for the input ill look into the gear. Im not wanting to go fast. I'm just wanting it to pull my 2 jet skis a little easier.

I love hearing about cars with over 200k.. Reminds me of all the good times ive had in my truck..Right now my goal is hitting 400k. And if it does go im thinking about trying to shoe horn a 2jz in it next. That should make it a fun ride.

Given the 2jz is a great motor...it needs to stay in a toyota. You could more easily swap in a 2.3T motor and not have to change much of anything. Use the same transmission and motor mounts. There are guys pushing lots of power out of them too.

I've heard of Rangers lasting a very long time, and you've got the basics covered.

I have a 1979 Volvo 242 DL with I Think 750,xxx before it croaked. One of these days I'd like to restore it again though.

my 95 has 167k and still going strong, also has about a 2 inch crack down the side of the block in a water jacket from last winters freeze. J B Weld is some awesome stuff!

looks like you've covered the basics. maybe open up the exhaust and intake. remove the cat. change antifreeze. that's about it. oh and change the oil, maybe even put a good additive in it for high mileage.
