Everytime I go to the track it seems like my car bouncing off the rev limiter is putting a hurting on my times. I have a tune from Bama Performance, anyone else experience this problem before?

You should be shifting before the Rev Limiter. If you're bouncing off the Limiter you're definitely going to slow down your times! Give my Bama team a call and they can look into your tune to see what your limiter is set up at.

Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

it does no good rideing the limiter like that your peak power is already dropping off at that point

Are you sure it's the rev limiter and not the traction control? Rev limiter should not be a problem in auto, unless it is not properly tuned for the 4.10 gears. Did you shut off the electronic nannies before running?

Traction control is definitely turned off, I'm almost positive its the rev limiter. I remember reading here that you should set it to shift at 7000, and not 7300. I can't seem to find the post though. The problem almost always occurs from 2-3 gear.

My tuner told me that the rev limiter is actually set at 6,850 rpm's from the factory, not 7,000. He re-set my limiter at 7,600. I am shifting at 7,000 and my rpm's crossing the 1/4 mile finish line is 7,400 in 4th gear. My best e.t. so far is 11.98 at 117.52 mph.

OP give Bama a call, they probably need to adjust your shift points slightly. the problem with the new auto trans is that when the ECU commands an upshift of the trans to the next gear it does not happen instantaneously. So after the ECU commands a shift the RPMs are allowed to climb still until the trans actually shift. With the 4.10 gears paired with the auto trans, the RPMs are allow to climb quite a lot compared to the stock 3.15 gears. So if Bama changes your tune to allow the trans to shift sooner, you should not hit the rev limiter anymore. you can also do some data logs and send it to Bama to show you hitting the rev limiter. I hope this helps you out some OP :rockon

My guess why Bama locks this adjustment is due them offering the warranty against the #8 cylinder failure. Bama probably doesn't want individual doing custom adjustments to their tunes and causing an engine failure that they will have to pay for. So for this reason they lock this adjustment.

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention its an automatic.
Okay, that makes things a little different! It sounds like there is something going on within the tune then. We send out thousands of tunes and build them all from the ground up for your PCM code and your mods. They're not just "canned" tunes, they're built custom by our team, so every once in a while it's possible we mess one up! We'll definitely get it straightened out for you, though! Give one of our Bama Tuning Specialists a call and they'll work with you to figure out exactly what's going on.

^ This is correct. Since we offer the #8 Cylinder Warranty we lock on all of the settings. If an issue was caused do to someone changing the settings after we sent out the tune, unfortunately it will complicate things. So we lock them to avoid any confusion!

Sorry for the side note, but I read that in 2013 models Ford changed the pistons slightly and deleted oil squirters, made them similar to the Boss 302 pistons, that was due to failure in cylinder #8 in somehow.

The question is, do you still lock the tunes for 2013's models?

I would also suggest a shift light. I have mine set at 6500 and rev limiter at 7k. It solved my problem of hitting the dreaded limits :)

Yes Ford did a much better Job with 13+ 5.0. However we still just feel safer if we lock the settings. If a non professional was able to change the Timing, Spark, Fuel, Shifting, Rev limiters etc.. there would be a high risk chance of error. We write our tunes very safely and efficiently so that we can deliver a safe and powerful tune!

I hope this answers your questions. If not, feel free to give the Bama team a call and they'll explain further into this for you! I called bama and told them my issue, they sent me a "revised tune" I uploaded the new tune, but unfortunately I still have the same problem, the car has terrible hesitation between shifts.
