So I had purchased a 93 GT with a intake backfiring problem and after checking the timing, wiring order, injectors, fuel pressure and rocker nuts, I pulled all the plugs and they all look like normally used plugs but on the #4 valve, it is clean an smells of unburned fuel. Does anybody have any suggestions...I will take any and all at this point, thanks. -Matt-

Probably not an injector if it smells like fuel. I second the bad plug or wire, maybe bad cap too.

and if you're reading this again ryan... why?? I'm sure you did the avie for the camaro guys, but what did we ever do to you?!

Attach a timing light on your #4 wire and see if it is firing. The injector could be leaking. Do you notice any fuel smell in the oil or is your oil seem thin?

If it smells of unburned fuel you are looking at an ignition problem I guess. You have confirmed spark at the problem cylinder?

If you pull the #4 plug wire and run the car, does the backfire stop? Maybe you have more than one problem on your hands. From my experience, backfire will only happen if you have a bad intake gasket, or your intake valve is bent, or the intake valve is open at the wrong time (timing), maybe I'm missing a thing or two there, but those are all I've seen.
