Hey, I'm building a 1991 originally a 4cyl car into a 460. Since i have to take the rearend out anyway should i use . . .

A) a stock 8.8
B) a modified 8.8 with 31 spline axles
or C) a 9 inch

I'm going to use this primarily as a street car but don't want the to tear up the axles if i need to smoke someone when the light turns green. I'm going to be using a'73 Thunderbird 460 block pistons crank connecting rods and such with '68 460 Lincoln heads with 2.19 intake and 1.76 exhaust, a hydraulic COMP cam 252 with the rest of the matching valetrain. Also an Edlelbrock performer intake and 750 carb. Any power guesses? I'm shooting for around 450 HP and 500 ft-lb

a 8.8 with 31 spline axles should be fine as long as your not making more then 900hp

A beefed up 8.8 will be good. You won't be making enough horsepower to require a 9 inch.
