4r70w Valve Body Separator Plate

I did the JMOD today so took out the separator plate and drilled all the correct holes with sizing. I was looking at the plate itself and it was extremely dirty, I sanded it with 300 grit and then a finer 600 grit. Is this good enough? Or should i sand with more grit and then finer grit again?
