This is useful stuff, even for the ones who do it all the time. I have print outs of similar charts that I laminate and keep on the side of my roll around tool chest. If you were to add a bolt torque chart, an intake manifold torque sequence chart and an ARP fastener torque chart, you would have a fairly comprehensive engine assembly must have spec article.

ok so im not sure if im posting this in the right section but here it goes anyways, im trying to replace the oil pan gasket in my 1989 5.0, the thing is I need to lift the engine, and the thing with that is ive never lifted an engine before and I would like to do it myself just to get a feel for it, from what i understand there are what like 4 bolts to get it loose ? what else do i have to worry about as far as lifting the engine? transmission connection, wiring etc? please help me out it would be much appreciated thanks guys :)

its not a whole lot its just a bit cramped... you might need to loosen the tranny from the crossmember to allow it to move with the engine thats one bolt there... then you have two to four bolts on the motor mounts i believe its just one on each side... once that is taken care of check all your wiring to make sure none of it is going to get pulled too much you dont want to tear one... then you lift it till you feel the oil pan will come out... it might be like 4 inches around that much
