93 GT bodywork just about done - *PRIMER'D* page 2
So, I made a topic a while back in December about doing the paint and yadda yadda. Finally got started on it in February/early March, and it's taken a lot of time, but it's coming out pretty good and wanted to share what I've learned, and been able to do.
Here's a shot of the front (obviously). The hood had tons of scratches and damage to it from 160k of driving, so I had to take it down pretty far, and I ended up with bare metal in some spots. So I sprayed primer on it to get a feel for if I wanted to paint the cowl, and I kind alike it. But the lines aren't even (shhhh).
The roof had a similar amount of damage. This was my first time using a dual action sander so I went down a bit too far in one spot and have a black octagon spot on there of primer hehe.
The GT bumber gets torn up by the road and other stuff, so we ended up buying this bumper repair kit stuff... like $50 for a little bottle, but it worked really well.
The dumbass ex girlfriend managed to back up into the car somehow and caved in the back bumper, it bent in the metal and over time caused part of it to rust. My dad's buddy owns a body shop so we took it there and he taught me how to pull out the body damage. Looks good as new.
Not sure if you can tell in this picture, but these side moldings on both sides got a case of smallpox and were just nasty as ****. So I bought new ones, and there sitting in a box.
Alone with the windshield wipers and mirrors I took off the cowl vent and had to do some gorilla glue repair to it as it was broken in 2 places, and gorilla glue is cheaper than a new one. It seems to hold perfectly. All will be sprayed black again.
I've always had a thing for these lights, and I like them so much I picked up a pair at a junkyard for $25.... I'll be putting them on when I'm done.
I wish I had some pictures of before the bodywork;I have some SOMEWHERE on the computer, but I'll show them when it's done. I've come a long way sop far and learned a lot. Since I'm back to work now I have had less time to do it, but can hopefully spray it soon. My dad just got a new spray gun and I'm eager to try it out.
Oh yeah, I got Bright Calypso Green paint
Because it's my favorite color on a Mustang. Like you can see in the picture, I'm going to do the cowl black, I'm thinking like old Mach 1 black. And the rest of the car will be calypso green, minus the lettering on the bumpers and doors which will be in black as well. And yes, I do have the wing, it's just taken off to make sanding the hatch easier.
