[I know nothing bout cars]

I just got this mustang, its got 265k miles on it and it’s my first car. Driven it a couple times and i know like nothing about cars. So, there isn’t a muffler, or catalytic converters. The guy i got it from said he did some work on it and only owned it for a couple weeks. Said the previous owner didn’t treat it well and he drove it back and forth to work. I’m 18 so i don’t have much money, or car knowledge for that matter, what should i do?

If you have an engine light or any lights on the dash, buy an OBD2 scanner you can plug it into your car in a port near the drivers feet, it will give you codes which will help tell you what's wrong and research so you can do repairs yourself cheaper than a mechanic for sure, look on Facebook marketplace or craigslist for local used parts like a catalytic converter
