i was curious as to audio systems. i was thinking about maybe upgrading my system in my 2002 suburban. how would i even begin to do that? and how much would it cost? installation? is it even necessary? i just don't wanna blow out my current setup.

i was thinking subs, speakers, amp.

prob middle of the road stuff, just things that aren't going to blow out in like 2 minutes

to replace the stock stuff is strait forward, just get the matching size and brand you want. as for sub(s), thats your personal preference as well. its not that bad to do it all, just take your time and correctly run the wires. you going with an aftermarket head unit or staying with stocker?

i figured i would keep stock head unit. nothing wrong with it, and i don't want my truck to get broken into for it. how would i put a sub in it? i believe it has one, but i wouldn't know where it is

if it has a sub, it will be in the very back in one of the sides. you will have to run power to an amp, get a high to low pass converter, and run your inputs from there. i personally use the rear speaker wires, tap into them, run them to the inverter, and run you input wires from it.

To get the best sound quality, you are going to want an aftermarket headunit. An aftermarket unit puts outa much cleaner signal to the amp then the stock would will.

I would do:

Alpine CDA-105 headunit

Polk Audio 6.5" db components in the front doors

JL Audio 10w3 subwoofer

small 2 channel amp for the front speakers

~350 watt amp for the subwoofer

Alpine Type R series is a very good mid level series of speakers. If you have a local audio place I'd go there, if you have questions ask there and milk them for as much info as you can without buying anything lol. its free and you learn a whole bunch

i personally like diamond audio or JL. right now i running fosgate, its ok.
