yea it doesnt look that bad...but if you look at the inner drivers frame rail it was a little rusted..( the only spot of rust on the car) and now it looks like it has seperated or split ...its to bad i couldnt have gotten hit in a different area...given the value of my car i am assuming that the cost to fix would obviously be more then the value of the car

be prepared to play hardball with the insurance company. I had a nice 87 coupe in 2003 ( i paid $ 4,800 a year earlier) and a guy ran a red light and hit my pass door and fender. Their insurance company offered me $ 800 because that was the blue book value. I ended up getting $ 4100 ( after buying the car back ). I got the car fixed and repainted for $ 2,200 . Good luck and don't back down from them.

Here it was after i got it fixed

Unless you buy back your salvage you won't be able to keep that motor.

Tell the adjuster up front that you want to keep the car if you can. Each company handles things differently but sometimes they can work with you on this.

Just remember that you catch more flies with sugar than you do with vinegar.

Being able to support why you think your car is worth what you want for it will go a long way in helping settle your claim. Do your home work and print out anything you can find to support what you want out of it. Talk to a few reputable used car dealers in your area and see if they would be willing to give a written appraisal to support your cause.

Few suggestions anyway - really sorry to hear about this. My first Mustang was an 88....thing had 36,000 actual miles on it when I sold it. Not a scratch anywhere - had never seen weather. Bastard that bought it totaled in two days. I cried for weeks. :(

they tried to total out my car saying it was only worth $1000(blue book value) i had to meet with the adjuster and go over all the suspension mods and engine stuff and show some comparable cars selling on ebay and craigslist... the law states that they have to "make you whole again" you're going to have to prove your cars worth, but also explain to them that you cannot get another car comparable to yours for the amount they give you when its totaled.

they ended up giving me $2300 to fix it my self. I actually got it fixed for 700.(did all the work my self) spent the rest on heads lmao
