I think the OP would be more than likely looking at $1200+ if he wants a 3" collector. I agree with quicksilver though, they are definitely worth the money. They cost a ton but they are an extremely high quality unit and a lot of engineering goes into that part and the buyer has to pay for that.

yeah but would would be a rwhp and rwtq different from Mac to Kooks?
Depends on your application, but I'm guessing not a whole lot. But people spend a good chunk of money on stuff that probably doesn't net them a lot more HP, but is just a better quality product. Think of throttle bodies/plenums. An Accufab TB/Plenum probably doesnt gain a lot more hp than a PP TB/Plenum, but people spend a lot of money to have an Accufab rather than a PP, just because it's a better quality unit. Not exactly the same thing with headers, but a lot of things factor into the quality of a header. The fit to the head, the fit to the midpipe, the quality of the material, the clearance for the trans/clutch, ground clearance, etc. and Kooks is probably top notch in every category

Plus the OP wants 3" collectors and MAC doesn't carry those.

Clearance for a clutch install is important to consider, I just went past MAC LT's on a new clutch install and it was not fun at all. I would wonder if the more expensive LT's have more clearance for a clutch install....I don't think I could of done it w/o my lift honestly because the trans had to get turned in the air then slid in w/ virtually no clearance...and this was with loosening the entire pass side header.

3" might be over-kill for this app, I'm sure 2.5" would work fine, but bigger wouldn't hurt. Plus I'm only at 302rwhp right now, will push it to 400 when I get bored with it and build a short-block that is capable of holding some HP. Right now, it's reliable, beat on it all day and not worry about it. A simple pulley can change that though.... :)

SLP Longtubes http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=M30000

FTW haha just kidding but i got mine for $900 plus tax and shipping but they have a sale on them right now at $809.... if you want the best i think slp and kooks but... if you want the best for your buck with sound and performance get mac it comes out almost half the price...just some food for though the install is a bitch the worst install i have done you have to remove the k member and the entire front suspension out... id rather pull the engine and take apart the block.. but its fun once its all done ;)

^ haha and thats what alot of people say when i tell them... but you cant believe the way it makes my 2v sound i love it because it sounds unique... and i know most guys mustangs wont ever sound like mine.... and other stang owners ask me all the time what exahust im running and i say full SLP some people think its a custom exhaust....not many people are willing to spend that much on a stang exhaust.... running all SLP it cost me like $2000 after all was said and done and thats with me doing the installs and thats just the exhaust...it may have not been the wisest decision but i still think its worth every penny

yeah I love my SLP LM1 but I cant do 900 for headers when doing cams and k member then too. And Mac headers with mac midpipe with me an easier fit!

what the different of a .5in size collector?
big difference in back pressure. these cars need back pressure to run properly. if you lose too much pressure your downgrading your car performance wise. N/A your gonna wanna go with the 2.5" unless your gonna build a high compression race motor.

this is something i forgot to mention. just one more complications created by LT headers. they truley are not worth all the hassles that they create down the line.

its not a matter of power difference its a matter of quality and ease of mind. with Kooks you know that you are getting the best. There is a lot of science involved in the manufacturing of those headers and they will outlast the Macs by far.
