I have a 2008 mustang v6 pony package, and somehow the driver side rear brakes started making noises. I saw a groove on the rotor. The mechanic said i have to replace the caliper , rotor and the pads. Q1) whats the reason for this , the cars only got 40000 miles. Q2) im getting slotted rotors , and for brake pads have no idea what to get, some say to get ceremic while others tell to get semimettalic. q3) what brands are good? heard mixed reviews abt hawks hps, satisfied pro oems, bendix, centric or akibono. Im confused on what to get, please help. i dont take this car on track, just for highway and city driving. Please help me choose which one to get( brake pads). Thank you so much.

Good rotors and the HPS pads will work well for you.
I can not see any reason in the world, why you would need new calipers.

Take your car some place else for a second opinion.

And, when you drive it around, stop and feel the rear rims. They should be warm. If they are VERY hot to the touch, then, you have a caliper hanging up.

But ya, get another opinion on that.
